Johnny is a very friendly guy with a lot of knowledge from all the trees and animals that live in the jungle of the area of Monteverde. He offers a lot of fun during the tour and takes great pictures for your holiday memories. We would book him as a guide again! Thanks for a great time.

Johnny was amazing! He worked so hard to find the animals that we had on our list of things we wanted to see. Ended up booking the night tour with him as well. Even in the pouring rain, it was an amazing experience and we saw many animals that we would never have seen as they are nocturnal. Johnny is incredibly knowledgable and his excitement for all things wild is contagious. I would highly recommend him to all!

After much deliberation on who to go on a night walk with in Santa elena we opted for this guy Johnny based on reviews. Having done many night walks across the world on my travels this is up there with one of the best. Super friendly, super knowledgeable, expert at spotting every animal and very knowledgable about plants too. We were lucky enough to just have a group of two so covered a lot of ground. Animals we saw: sloth, Kinkajou, toucans, very rare frogs, tarantula, loads of stick insects, cicadas, bats, snakes x4 all under a beautiful star strewn sky. Worth every penny and tipped him for such a fantastic night. Book him and you can thank me later.

Johnny was very good in spotting animals and working with the other guides on the night out. We saw a toucan, tarantula, snakes and the grand finale an iconic red-eyed frog on the night walk among other things. Johnny is very knowledgeable and is able to spot things that any tourist is apt to miss.

I went on a tour with Johnny to see wildlife at curiacancha. He never asked me in the emails how many people were going. I am a solo traveller and when he arrived in the morning he was visibly annoyed that it was just me and then told me it was minimum two people but he would take me anyway. He made multiple passive aggressive comments throughout the morning about the issue, emphasised many times how much more money he would usually make. We stopped for petrol then coffee so I got to the reserve only 1.5 hours after pick up despite it being a 15 minute drive. He told me about his child maintenance issues with his wife during this time. At the reserve several times he physically grabbed me and moved me in one or another direction and would loudly shout across to other groups visiting and imitate animals sounds we heard loudly and obnoxiously, probably scaring many away. He initially said we would do 4 hours then when I said I was happy with two (mainly because I was not happy with the tour!) suddenly had to rush to collect his son from school so we ended with 1.5 hours. His equipment was outdated compared to other guides so you couldn’t see the animals that well and one time I didn’t get a photo of a rare bird because he wanted one for himself first and by the time he tried to take one for me it had flown away. I’m surprised as the other reviews were so good. Maybe he was just angry at the loss of money? I’ve told him in the future he needs to tell people minimum two per tour and not assume.
