The name can be misleading. The frogs are in glass boxes and not in ponds. The entrance is quite expensive at $12.50. However I really enjoyed it. I went in the afternoon where most frogs were sleeping. My guide, Alejando, gave me a tour of each of the frogs. Then they offer you to come back at night for free... More

We visited here in May 2016, went during the day time for the tour (bilingual tour) and used our ticket for our free return entry at night time to see the nocturnal frogs when they are most active. The frogs are in well sized enclosures (not ponds) with glass walls and a good amount of shrubbery, which makes them fun... More

Hopefully this is the right business to review. The Frog Pond of Monteverde has a big red and blue frog statue on the outside and the building looks almost skechy from the outside. But inside though, it's treasure land, despite it being sad for all the frogs to be trapped in glass tanks. I wish I could see them in... More

Without planning it, we arrived just in time for the night tour. The tour was in English and the guide was great at finding the frogs. However, this isn't a 'pond' - it's a collection of glass tanks where frogs are kept. It was good to see all the different types of frogs, but it's really not the same as... More

We drove up to Monteverde and arrived in the evening so this was something to do as it was dark when we arrived. Our first guide put us with another group as we speak English and the other people in our group spoke Spanish-There was another guide that had just started an English tour so we did miss the first... Not at all impressed... We went in the day which wasn't the best idea but were allowed to keep our tickets so we could go in again that evening, which we didn't bother doing. There was about 20 tanks, we couldn't find most of the Frogs but didn't really want to see them in tanks.. We thought they would be... More

It is a rather small place with 20 aquariums with different types of local frogs. A ticket allows you to come in day time and night time during the sane day ti see both day and night frogs. We had a guide (in English) after dark and he was great in finding and showing the frogs. We made dome of... More

The frog pond description might lead you to believe you are going to see frogs in a semi natural environment. The reality is a dozen glass tanks where you spot the frogs - yes there are cute ones - with the aid of a disinterested "guide" with a torch. Really not up to CR standards and not worth the money... Jose gave a great tour of the frogs. We self-toured earlier in the day and could only find a couple of the frogs (those active in the day). But most of the frogs are nocturnal and Jose found all of them except one, plus a horned grasshopper.
