The Monteverde Orchid Garden is a place where you can enjoy beauty that is found in the marvelous world of orchids. Our garden has a large collection of orchids; we have more than 425 different species. You can find species that are endemic to Monteverde, and a collection of miniature orchids, including the smallest one in the world. We offer guided walks both in English and Spanish. We are in a great location in down town Santa Elena.

The first and second visit to the Orchid garden was in July of 2013 and there were a lot of plants blooming. It was really beautiful. The third visit in 2016 didn't have as many blooming plants as we saw in 2013, yet the guides were still able to make the visit very informative and interesting. This is a really... More

I toured with an Overseas Adventure Travel (OAT) group which was offered as an optional tour on their multi day tour of Costa Rica. There was a fee to get in; however, I do not know what it was. Apparently a Costa Rican "orchid enthusiast" has a passion for orchids and developed/built this place. He raises orchids and I believe... More

I have never been a flower show or flower tour type of person. The Orchid garden tour made me rethink orchids. The wide variety of orchids along with the numbers of them in the Monteverde area is astonishing. The tour also alerted me to the importance of paying attention to the little details of plants and trees where orchids grow.... More

This is an interesting place to learn about the orchids of this part of Costa Rica. We were unable to complete our visit one day and they let us come back the next day to complete the tour. We had two different guides and they were both very knowledgeable about orchids. We grow orchids ourselves so we found it very... More

My husband and I only had 30 minutes, so we asked for a quick tour. Most of the orchids were tiny but beautiful and intricate. It was fascinating the learn about the different ways they have adapted, and I had no idea that vanilla comes from an orchid! We also saw lots of butterflies and a neat camoflage insect.

We had dessert here two nights in a row. The coffee was good and the service was excellent. The price was average given it is a touristy town. We had the cinnamon roll and brownie which were very good. The second Night we Had a hamburger and dessert which was also very good. I would recommend given the atmosphere upstairs... More

This was a very pleasant tour, our guide was very knowledgable and kept everything very intriguing during the tour. The majority of the orchids are very small, but beautiful. We learned about the different species and the effects of hybrid within orchids. The guide helped pose some flowers so I could take great pictures, sorry they are in my DSLR... More

The garden was a true gem. It was raining when we arrived, and our guide offered us raincoats. He was extremely knowledgable and his obvious love of the orchids comes through in his tour. We learned so much and enjoyed every bit of it. Most of the orchids on this tour are tiny, and it was really neat to see... More

Our guide, Andres was excellent - very knowledgeable. A lot of the orchids are very small but you are given magnifying glasses to use which helps. Orchids are much more diverse than we thought and Andres's commentary gave us lots information. Very worthwhile if you're at all interested in plants.

Thank Ken H
