Not very far from Galle city and you can go there by a vehicle too. This is a nice place but better visit during evening. Then its less sunny and nice for photopgraphy too. Cloth wise no big restrictions but since its a temple better to ehere something decent.

This is an interesting religious site with lovely views of Galle bay. Unfortunately the weather was cloudy so we didn't see a good sunset but it was peaceful and nice to see anyway. Only major negative was the aggressive stray dogs that growled and barked at us on two separate occasions, completely unprovoked - be very careful around them, especially at sunset. Would definitely recommend getting a tuk tuk up the hill.

The Peace Pagoda is a very special place in a busy touristic Unawatuna. It is a place of quiet solitude. We were there when a blessing was offered to the Japanese paint company that donated their services and product to repaint the pagoda. It was a multicultural event and one to be remembered.
