Off the beaten track

An unusual beach in the jungle with lots of monitor lizards (don't worry, they are really shy) and very good sand. A bit difficult to get to, but definitely worth it!

Would definitely choose Jungle Beach over Unawatuna beach. You can either take a TukTuk there or just walk (it's a nice walk through the jungle).

Dont think of attempting this one if you are with elders in the group, with a bit of a steep walk down without a lot of support. But if you do get there eventually - grab a beer and sit in the shade and enjoy the view :)

Small secluded beach with great sand, view and small waves for swimming. It is quite a walk down so only down side is walking all the way back up after a relaxing day at jungle beach!

We came and visited this beach after visiting the peace pagoda, we fancied a little down time and thought it would be a nice place to do so, we stayed 5 minutes and left. The beach was filthy and there were a lot of wild monkeys which although very cute, we are concerned about flees and being bitten, obviously something... More

This is a warning to any women travelling alone( or with partners) to jungle beach. I visited the beach alone 2 days ago and was almost sexually assaulted :-( it was the middle of the day, I was fully clothed walking down the steps that lead to the beach and was approached by a local Sri Lankan man who exposed... We walked here over the hill from Unawatuna beach. The walk was fun. The beach is not as good as the one at Unawatuna, in my opinion. There were lots of rocks/coral fragments that swept in and out with the surging waves so that my feet were scratched all over. It's a beautiful location and a fun place for a... More

The way to the beach is nice. Cool trees, cool rocks and a fun side road that leads to a rocky beach with giant waves. Jungle beach itself is a bit of a downer. We went on a Saturday. Lots of locals with prying eyes on our bikinis. The beach looks like a dump. Waste everywhere, bottles, debris, you name... More

It was a good place to get the tropical warmth in a pristine beach. It's a pubic beach and no charges apply. The tuck shop nearby provides required juice and beer. It recommended visiting this place during the week days to avoid disturbances from excess crowd. The by road is not maintained properly, however it's less than 100 meters.

It is a long walk down, but jungle beach is worth it. Idyllic setting in lovely bay you find a basic beach bar, but fish is fresh and rest of food very good
