The Daming Mountain is an AAAA-level tourist attraction, and it is one of Zhejiang's top 10 leisure resorts. In the western region of Zhejiang, it is referred to as the most stunning and picturesque mountain. Its highest peak is 1,489.9 meters above sea level. It is well-known in Jiangnan for its "one clear lake, ten miles of deep valleys, hundred-zhang tall waterfalls, a thousand meters of grassland, ten thousand meters of caverns, towering peaks, and endless forests." The Daming Mountain is not only a beautiful place to see nature, but also a great place to ski.

This place is a hidden gem, with beautiful mountain scenery and good walking trails. There are also skying opportunities in the winter.
The only drawback is the entrance ticket - you have to pay both for entering the place, then you have to buy a ticket for transportation inside the mountain (you can't get anywhere without the special bus), and then another extra fee for the cable car.

We were looking for a place to ski and heard of Da'Ming Mountain. So we went to check it out during CNY. Short story: don't come here during CNY and it's not a place to ski. It's more like an amusement-ski bunny hill for those who have never skied before.
It was a Herculean effort to get to the mountain. We took a train to Hangzhou (closest train station), hired a car to take us the 100 km to the mountain (during the last three km we got out and walked because it was faster than the bumper to bumper traffic). We paid 75¥ to wait in a long line to take a 30 min bus trip up the winding mountain road. At the end of the bus trip, we walked up to another long line of people where we were told we would need to wait for 90 minutes before having the chance to get onto a gondola to take us to the top of the mountain. Instead, we opted for the 50 minute walk up the steps. It was a good choice - although it was busy and a good steep hike up, it was enjoyable. At the top there is a beautiful lake with a bridge along side it.
When we finally made it to the ski resort, we saw another long wait ahead of us if we wanted to buy a ticket and rent skis. Instead we chose to view the mini-bunny hills from the viewing deck (full of people). We went in for a coffee - another half hour wait in line. So, we turned around and did it all in reverse!
Although we didn't find the ski resort that we had hoped, we did have a good day enjoying the CNY holiday with many many happy people and exploring a new part of China.

This 1400 metre high mountain with 34 peaks is a very impressive sight. Of all the so-called "beauty spots" in Lin'an prefecture, it is only this one which truly deserves the name. Yet considering its proximity to Shanghai and Hangzhou, it is surprisingly little known,. especially among Westerners. You will not find the huge crowds here that detract from a visit to many of China's other natural sights.

We walked up the beautiful Longmen Gorge to the peak. It follows a white water river via several beautiful cascades. Along the way you can see several rare and endangered plants, including the Daming pine and various species of azalea and rhododendron. The pine-clad upper slopes of the mountain are very beautiful, as are the jagged peaks which reach upward into the sky. If you are too tired after the uphill hike, you can come down by slide or cable car. Overall, this is very scenic mountain where you can see some beautiful forest and get some fresh air. This is by far the pick of sights in the region.

We took a 2.5 hours drive from the hotel to the bus / shuttle area. There, we had to walk up a hill for 10mins to the bus where it took us another 15mins (winding roads and yeah it’s really high and scary for the faint hearted) to the cable car station. Cable car ride is around 10 mins to the ski resort. Scenic views and good place for basic ski.
