It is basically a mountain stream, making its way downhill. The authorities have turned it into a tourist attraction, by constructing stone, metal and concrete trails to the peak. It takes it's name from the action film, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
We went on a weekday, and we were maybe just a handful of visitors on the trail. I could not understand why, maybe because of the cold and wet weather. The shops all along the route were closed. So was the bobsled downhill. Only the glass bridge was open, but there were no people on it.
The climb up is quite tough, but it is only for a bit more than an hour. You can pause on the way up, and enjoy the small and medium sized waterfalls.
Unfortunately, as is quite common in China, folks do not care about discarding their cigarette butts or their junk, and you find litter quite common.
We went from urban Anji by taxi. But could not find transportation on our return back, as there were no taxis or buses back late afternoon. So do make sure of your travel plans back. We could manage a "hitched ride" back to town with a local trader, for a fee (of course).
Also, there is a discount if you are above 60 years, so do carry your passport if you are eligible.

Very beautiful! The car ride up the mountain to get to the "waterfalls is quite steep. But once you get there it's beautiful! "Hidden Dragon Waterfalls" The waterfalls are in a very steep bamboo-lined ravine, with concrete footpaths and metal staircases built up and down both sides. The waterfalls are part of a river which cuts down a steep ravine, of which Daxi Town is at the bottom and Wai Zhang Long Shan (a mountain village) at the top. It takes about 2hrs to walk up to the top and back down. You can take a zipline or tobaggon ride down.

Hidden Dragon Hundred Waterfall has a 60 RMB per person entrance fee. The entrance to the waterfalls are in Daxi Town, an hour bus ride south from Anji Town.
The waterfalls are in a very steep bamboo-lined ravine, with concrete footpaths and metal staircases built up and down both sides. The "waterfalls" themselves are very small, the tallest being no more than 5 metres. The waterfalls are part of a river which cuts down a steep ravine, of which Daxi Town is at the bottom and Wai Zhang Long Shan (a mountain village) at the top. It takes about 2hrs to walk up to the top and back down.
Even in December when the weather was quite cold there were still tour groups visiting, which basically means that there is very little opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of this location without the presence of loud tourists. If you do however plan to visit, late afternoon or early morning is the best.
SIDE NOTE: If you plan on visiting the Anji region, then stay in one of the small quaint guesthouses in Wai Zhang Long Shan (a mountain village) to the east on the mountain ridge line above Daxi Town. You can either walk up to the village through Hidden Dragon Waterfall ravine or hitch hike up the mountain road to the village. A night in one of the guests houses is 50 RMB is slow season. The fresh air, gorgeous views and plentiful walks through bamboo forests and mountain villages make for a great getaway.

One can walk through the trail to the top of the Hidden Dragon Fall to the Dragon Flying platform(龙登台)to over look at the canyon. Best of all, you can stop by some farmer's own restaruant to eat organic food they pick up from their back yard.

The gorge is amazing, it is a pretty steep climb up the metal stairs. We went for a bout an hour and had not reached the top. Unfortunately, the beautiful gorge with its dozens of small waterfalls is marred by a toboggan cart slide with dozens of green painted metal pylons - an atrocity for the eyes, or for a nature -loving person - to say nothing about the noise the slide makes. Once you get past the slide top station, it is quiet and refreshing. You might be the only people who progress past the top station on the slide. Paper, trash and raincoat wrappers were everywhere in the gorge. A beautiful place that gets destroyed by tourism, Chinese style

Visited this waterfall during Oct time. Is a good place for gateway from the city. it took us about 3 hours from Shanghai to arrive here. We enjoy walking up to the mountain and with enjoy cooling weather and fresh air. You can take a rest and enjoyed nice Chinese tea half way to the top.

A 2 days 1 night stay. Took an early morning train from Shanghai to Hangzhou, then took a one hour bus journey to Anji. Checked-in to the hotel then took a taxi up to Canglong Waterfall. It was a great nature jungle walk up the hill with great waterfalls along the way. It was a challenging walk up for me as I do not exercise much. I took multiple stops to reach the top. The top has a platform to look down to the valley. Great view! Along the way, you will hear people asking, how far more to walk? We took more than one hour to walk up. And after that, we just took those van at the hill to get down the hill. Cost only RMB10 per person. After that, we had to find a ride back to the city. But overall, it was a great hike. We had a good dinner at Dafang. The next day, Bamboo Mountain then home to Shanghai.
