Clean fresh air and a wonderful climb
Aug 2020 • Friends
The Chinese name for this place is “Bamboo Sea” and it’s not difficult to see why when you look down from the top. It’s indeed a sea of bamboo trees!

Anji is about 3 hours by driving from Shanghai and it’s a nice place for a retreat from the busy city life. Come to the bamboo forest for clean fresh air.

This is the venue where Lee Ang filmed Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.
Climb all the way to the top where the view is beautiful. Probably a 30 to 45 minutes climb.
At the peak, you can pay 80 rmb to cross the forest via a glass bridge that’s a few hundred meters long. You can also choose to descend via luge. We, like most, chose to walk down.

Bad tourist resort from 20 years ago
May 2020 • Family
Poor quality tourist attraction. Bamboo should be peaceful. This is noisy. Forced along crowded paths. Bad quality tourist shops everywhere. Noisy rides through the bamboo which should be peaceful. Forced through endless mediocre shops. Like tourist attractions used to be in China 20 years ago.

Only good part is the glass bridge and slide afterwards, which kids liked.

amazing bridge

Go on the top of the hill to reach the suspended glass bridge. It is fabulous to walk on it, with a spectacular view through the glass, but not only. To cross the bridge is an extra fee to pay.

An Attractive Destination

The Bamboo Park is very pretty, relaxing and low key. It is uncrowded and just wandering around is a pleasure. There are a number of stalls selling local produce and assorted items for purchase. A shop sells a good variety of bamboo products and is well worth taking a look.

The Bamboo park is definitely worth a drive from Shanghai. The park is beautiful. We spent a couple of hours hiking. The bobsled ride out of the forest was great for the kids. Highly recommend spending a few hours touring different areas of the bamboo park.

Bamboo

You can climb up into the mountains and see plenty of bamboo. In fact, this is one of the "bamboo sea" areas for which the region is known. You can ride a slide down the mountain for a fee. They seemed to still be working on the place, making improvements to pavilions and such.

Gate admission 门票 was 40 Yuan. There are several similar parks in the vicinity, and I don't really know which is the best one.

Can take a van 面包车 from here to Tian Huang Ping 天荒坪 town for 30 Yuan and a bus from there for 4.5 Yuan back to Dipu Town 递铺镇。

Cool Bamboo Park in Anji

Huge Bamboo Park/Garden with lots for all ages to enjoy. A few animals on display too as well as some kids rides etc. ( and , bizarrely , a bright red electronic bull-ride)
