Well kept trails and the area was quite huge with lots of interesting trees and vegetation. On one end they had a military cemetary holding local soliders from WW1 and WW2. The river ran along one side of it and it was very pretty. I would suggest going in the morning or evening as midday was rather hot.

This well planned garden has seen better days, but it is worth the time to stroll the grounds. Amazing trees, and the exhibits are interesting, where there are still signs available. Grounds were tended, and we weren't approached by anyone, even when we took the loop through the jungle on the hill at the end of the gardens.

First of all. many post show ocean view??? its inland., Visit Takes 1 hours, 1.5 max. Take a guide! Mine was Samuel. Very knowledgable. The medicinal part is a little long but it's the first area. It will go quickly after.
Prices are :
entrance 1000 xaf (1.5 Euros)
Guide : 1000 xaf (1.5 Euros) (Buy him a soda before you go! 600. water is 500)
Fe to take photos is 2000 (3 Euros) Just pay it! It's to protect a nice area. There is not much visitor, they already lost over 150 hectars. i think 48 is left.
I did the botanic garden and the wildlife center in 3 hours and i took my sweet time. Did not try the restaurant but the one in the wildlife is very nice.

We spent an afternoon in Limbe and people had talked about the wonderful gardens in Limbe, on arrival we went to pay our entrance fee. As soon as the person on the till observed we had cameras, he instantly requested more money and got very agressive towards us.

The guy is a crook and i would NEVER suggest anyone go to this attraction unless you want to get ripped of by the staff. I hope the management reads this review and takes serious action against his staff.

Really nice gardens, rather large so good to allow some time. Dont forget insectsr repellent as it's a haven of mosquitoes etc ... We had to pay about 3,000 CFA for the camera which was more than the fee for ourselves but it was worth it. Well worth a visit.

We stopped in Limbe with a cruise group. Very well maintained botanical garden with good staff. After first visit - returned for a cultural show at the garden. Very nice.

I had an amazing visit to the Limbe Botanic Garden. After Down Beach, this is a MUST. I had previously gone there with friends, and we had just wandered around, loving every part of it, as it is a gorgeous place. This time, we hired a guide, and it was 100 times better. Some of the trees and buildings in the botanic garden are centuries old. The species' variety is amazing. I never knew that the anesthetic used by dentists around the world came from a tree first found in the Limbe garden over a century ago... and when you get close to that tree and smell the leaves, it actually smells like you are getting a teeth cleaning at the dentist. We also saw a variety of fruit trees, some used in cooking, in medicine, as candies, and even the Viagra tree (the tree from which VIAGRA was formed ... it was off-limit, because everybody wants to try it, and it is hurting the tree). The Limbe river also runs inside the garden, so this makes for an even better visit. The Botanic garden was visited by Prince Charles and Princess Diana in 1990, and they inaugurated its conference room.
I just wish the place was better kept, with better signs. It is a treasure, and to make your visit more fulfilling, you do need a guide!

I read the other reviews and agree that the signage and general information could be better.

However, it a lovely way to pass a few hours walking through a cared for garden that has a large array of fascinating plants and runs alongside the river.

The entrance is 1000CAF for foreigners, pictures are 2000CAF per device and a guide can be hired for 2000CAF.

The gardens are quite large and very enjoyable. RECOMMENDED

Beautiful green grounds to wander in, and nice place to go for a morning run. But it is very rundown as an institution. For CFA3000 entrance fee they could at least hand out a photocopied map and description. The signboards are all decayed and unreadable. There is a large map posted at the entrance hut - so take a photo of it with your camera. Not much happening at the "jungle village" area. Nice to get off the main paths and wander towards town on the small paths until you pop through a hole in the fence and are near the bridge over the Limbe river.

Beautiful garden but poorly maintained. Paid alot for entrance fees, no one to guide us through the garden. No flyers to even describe the trees or garden. Poor poor service not very encouraging for a tourist.
If you just want to see, just go and see the garden.
