This is one of the prettiest beaches on Oahu, yet few people know about it because it is at the 'end of the road'. The water is the most beautiful turquoise. If you make it this far, be sure to do the hike along the Ka'ena Point Trail. It is very flat and an easy walk, but definitely bring plenty of water, snacks, wear a hat, and decent shoes. And don't forget to bring a camera - you will stop to savor the views all along the drive to Yokohama Bay and all the way hiking to the Point. After your hike, plan to spend the rest of your day on the beach at Yokohama and reward yourself with a swim in the pristine waters.

We found this beach at the end of the road on the leeward side of the island. The whole area is beautiful with mountains on one side and the ocean on the other. The waves were huge the day we visited and boogie boarders were loving it! It was a bit scary to go swimming but we enjoyed watching the waves and the people playing in them. It was a weekend so there were lots of people, including locals, having picnics and hanging out. The beach is so long we had a decent amount of space to ourselves.

My niece and I stumbled across this beautiful place by accident looking for sea turtles. As began to explore and walk around the beach I stumbled across this little cement cross coming out of the rock. As I stood there I couldn’t help but think about how it got there? How long it has been there? The storms it had weathered and the beauty it had seen. For me me it was a spiritual moment, I was going through a bad break up at the time and that beautiful little cross reminded me of what an amazing world we live in.

I spent a few solitary hours on this beach with my book and some snacks. It is a beautiful beach without any nearby traffic noise (like some other beautiful beaches down the road) making it very peaceful. I was alone and felt totally safe, there is a lifeguard and bathrooms. A beautiful slice of paradise!!

This was not something we had on our to-do list, but we had some time and took a drive as far as the road would take us. The beach is amazing and the views are beautiful. Not a lot of people go there so the drive is easy; pack a lunch picnic and you are set. Remember pack in and pack out!

Took a drive up to the end of the road from Ko'Olina and ended up at Yokohama Bay. It is a long, white sandy beach. There are bathrooms and free parking. The waves wee beautiful to watch the day we were there. Hardly anyone there on a Tuesday.

Locals only please keep your family and your belongings safe and do not venture out this way. Our windows were smashed in and we were threatened several times that this was not the place for us.

Yokohama is a beautiful stretch of white sand beach, great for surfing and whale watching. There is also a hiking trail to the lighthouse at the point. Lots of parking.

Please indicate if this review was helpful so I know what to review in the future! On our trip to Oahu this month we hiked Yokohama Bay Trail aka Kaena West (this hike), Diamond Head, Monoa Falls, Kaena North and the Lanikai Pillboxes. We did Kaena from the west as our first hike. Of the hikes mentioned, we would consider this one of the flattest, and it was a medium length hike. You can see some rail ties underneath, and the views are quite neat, being on the side of the mountain and all. We hiked to the point where the road ended; we could have hiked around to the northernmost point, but we elected to go back.

Your hike will go through some dirt roads with potholes, then transition to packed rock/dirt. It rained the day we went, so it was muddy, but still worth it. We saw a seal, a rainbow, and spectacular views of the coast. We went at dawn, and it was quiet and we only encountered a handful of people there. Definitely worth the time investment to see some neat and rocky coastline!

To where we turned around, the hike will be around 100-120 minutes round trip at a leisurely pace, less than 4 miles, fairly flat. The pathway has almost no areas for shade, so try to do the hike first thing in the morning. Make sure you have plenty of sunscreen or even an umbrella to act as shade (or umbrella if it rains). Good shoes will offer the support you need; flip flops probably not the best idea due to rocks.

There is a parking lot, but we kept driving through until we saw the sign and when the road got bad. You can park in the beach dirt lot nearby or on the road. Recommend you remove all valuables from your car as you will be away from it for a few hours and the west side has a bit more crime. We managed this by removing all valuables and putting up a sign “Nothing to steal except for this sign, please don’t steal this sign” :)

Again, please indicate if you found this review helpful so I can focus my future efforts accordingly!

Remote and quiet. Very picturesque. Likely to see only locals at this beach. The beach approach is a little steep, but the water is amazing. Not to be skipped.
