This was my first visit to the Golden Grove although I have lived in the area for 34 years (!) The exterior of the building itself is charming and to the rear there is a large outdoor dining area with seating, parasols and some even have heaters. However, we chose to dine indoors as it was quite breezy. The menu is not extensive but our meals were nicely cooked and arrived in a timely manner.
The friendly staff made us feel very welcome, right from the moment we arrived, and this made our meal there all the more enjoyable. I was unable to manage any dessert but perhaps would have done if they offered 'mini-desserts' as some establishments do. Nevertheless, our experience was positive and we left having had a pleasant evening.

We would happily dine here again.

We found The Golden Grove by accident, but what an amazing accident it was. The landlords Aaron and Ebony could not be more welcoming and friendly. They really are amazing at their jobs. We felt comfortable as soon as we arrived. Ebony brought over a bowl of water for our 2 dogs without us having to ask. The building itself is wonderful with so many fantastic features, it was so full of character and charm. The food was delicious, we can highly recommend the chicken lasagne. Everything was so nicely presented and really did taste as good as it looked. I can't recommend The Golden Grove enough, I wish there were more stars I could give them. We live a long way from the pub but we definitely hope to be back.

A lovely pub, nice atmosphere, great staff. I stupidly spilled some of my wine, well! What a surprising response I got, the barman said priority is needed and poured me about the same amount of wine I’d spilled, then came to clean up. Put me at my ease as I felt awful. Thank you 😊

Booked this restaurant as part of the scheme and staying in Thorpe park we thought this place would be a winner, nice menu and something for everyone. On arrival we were given a menu they had clearly knocked up especially for the eat out to help out scheme - we were told everything was already discounted - warning bells!!!!! £7.95 for a kids meal, yeah sounds discounted. Then the adults menu -£12 for 2 courses....sounds good don’t it? But supplements were added on to a lot of the meals. It just all seemed very sneaky! The food itself was not great, fatty chicken and raw cheese burger (asked for medium but this thing was still breathing) but we paid the £114 bill, taken to here to warn people of this very sneaky restaurant!

I visited the Golden Grove last Sunday. There were six of us including two children. None of us had starters, we ordered 2x burgers,3x roast chicken, 1x roast beef. Deserts were 2x sticky toffee pudding, 2x chocolate brownies (child portions). Drinks were 1x bottle of larger, 1xhalf a lager, 4x cokes. The bill came to £167.00 which I thought was incredibly expensive. Breaking down the bill I found I was charged £2.00 extra on each chicken dinner for a Yorkshire pudding!! Also £18.50 gratuity was added to the bill. The food was good but grossly overpriced. We will NOT be returning.

Great place to sit in the sunshine and enjoy a beer. However although we booked in advance and requested a high chair this wasn’t arranged when we arrived and had to get our own high chair. The charcuterie board was disappointing and we weren’t given side plates to share. Also not asked how anything was or checked on during the whole service, as I would normally say at the time if we weren’t happy. The Mac and cheese on the kids menu was £7 although literally just pasta with minimal cheese sauce, which didn’t seem good value. Would return again, however not for lunch menu as felt quite disappointed. Also like to add that it wasn’t particularly busy so better service should have been provided.

We’ve just moved to the area so thought we would try the local cuisine. We booked a week in advance and they lost the booking but as there were only two of us it was fine.
We both had the roast beef which was very nice but over priced at £21.50 each. Along with three pints of pride £58 total.
It’s a shame you have to mention social distancing these days but they have it all worked out. I could imagine this pub being rammed full before the lockdown, it may be why the food is expensive.
We will go again.

Very very good visited three of four times now and both the food and service is excellent this is a great place for families and couple alike. The menu is small and changes fairly often. I think they focus on doing a few things well rather than trying to please everyone. That said there are options. For both vegan and vegetarian. If you’re not to fussy and like a polite well run clean establishment you will like this place.

Ordered a chicken burger which cost £17. Expensive for a chicken burger so I was expecting something epic for that price and I don’t mind overpaying when it’s worth it. However, the burger was 95% breadcrumb. I would have needed callipers to measure the thickness of the chicken, it didn’t even fill the surface area of the breadcrumb. Camembert was nice, but the burger really ruined it. My friend also had the calamari (he’s a decent level chef) and refused to pay for the calamari due to a puddle of oil on the plate and the breadcrumb barely hanging on to the meat. Cocktails were ok, didn’t quite taste right but the bier moretti was nice. Staff were very nice and accommodating.

Was a last minute decision but very happy we chose here!
We live in Chertsey and have only visited this pub for drinks. The food was LOVELY! We had the tacos, buffalo wings and the prawns- no complaints whatsoever.
The waiters/waitresses are very respectful and keep their distance.
Would definitely recommend!
