- Paul D26 contributionsWhat an amazing beach. Beautiful sand. Lovely cliff side walks along the beach, also a cave the kids enjoyed. The perfect place for a family picture or two. Well worth a visit. The signal is not good so I'd advise taking some cash if you want to use the cafe for a coffee or ice cream as the card reader kept losing signal. 100% recommendedVisited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 18, 2024
- Sandy B3 contributionsNo parking in surrounding roads. Best park in Palm Bay avenue loads of parking there. Easy reach to the nudist area by the slope. Nice private dunes, seas refreshing. Many naturists were there enjoying the last of the autumn sun. It's my go to place for naturism.Visited October 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 7, 2025
- Sasha Marie2,021 contributionsLove love this beach. It is perfect. Not too busy, it is clean, the view is gorgeous and when the tide is out, there are loads of little rock pools. There is not really specific parking for this location and there are no toilets aside from nearby pubs but highly recommend coming here. Such a contrast from Margate which is nearby.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten June 15, 2024
- nakinilerakCanterbury, United Kingdom13 contributionsBeautiful and quite secluded bay with golden sands and white chalk sea stacks. Keep a weather eye on the tides - the bay gets cut off at both sides at high tide, so you can find yourselves stuck for several hours. Parking is mostly residential, so please be respectful to the residents and park at Joss Bay and walk in. Don't set up camp directly underneath the cliff face; the chalk regularly spits large chunks. Nudist area to one side.Visited May 2024Traveled with friendsWritten May 29, 2024
- Peter H2 contributionsI stayed here for three days; my first holiday on the Kent coast in over thirty years. The hotel was immaculate. Everywhere looked really smart and the room was very cosey, clean, quiet and well facilitated. I used the hotel's wifi whilst there and it was even faster than my own! No problems with it at all. All staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly Callum who I got talking to when he came to clean my room and replenish supplies. I mentioned of how I didn't know where many shops and things were, around the town and he very kindly got me some leaflets with all the information in and gave me a few ideas for places to visit. This was very kind and helpful and I am most grateful to him. The food and drink at the restaurant were also very nice and there was plenty of variety to choose from. I accidentally stayed around half an hour past the checkout time due to my watch being slow but staff were very nice about it and did not charge any extra. Over all I’m very satisfied with my stay. Staff were very friendly and kind, the hotel was clean, well facilitated and cosey throughout. I would definitely be happy to stay here again if I came back to Broadstairs.Visited July 2024Traveled soloWritten July 12, 2024
- ManateeUnited Kingdom252 contributionsParking can be a problem. Joss Bay has a large car park and from there it's a nice walk along the beach if the tide is out. The chalk stacks at Botany and arch at Kingsgate are really impressive. They're eroding fast though. Further along is the naturist area that is very popular in Summer. A great beach overall, but limited facilities except for the very nice Botany Bay Hotel and pub.Visited April 2024Traveled with friendsWritten April 6, 2024
- MaxLondon, United Kingdom2 contributionsVery beautiful beach for our Chinese New year Trip. We have walked from west-gate-on-sea to Botany Bay. The colours of sky keep changing along the way. Had a nice stay at a BnB that day after walking. Thanks for nice food and cozy room provide by the host Barry : ) PS: Just know there is a naked area in Botany Bay as well, lol. Will come back this year in the summer. 😍 海日生残夜,江春入旧年。新年快乐: )Visited January 2025Traveled with friendsWritten January 29, 2025
- Andrew Chard3 contributionsA magical place to spend time with friends. Sea breezes, a great pub on the doorstep, wildflowers galore. There’s a naturist section along the dunes and lovely clifftop walks. Cherished memories made here with friends.Visited June 2024Traveled with friendsWritten July 27, 2024
- Stuart AussieCanterbury, United Kingdom9 contributionsWe visited midweek to have more quiet space. Therecwere less than a dozen other naturists otherwise almost empty beach. I guess its bissier at the weekends. The sea iscwarm enough for swimming in June but only for brief dips!! A great day out topped off with a beer and snscks at the botany hotel nearby.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 16, 2024
- Nita MBroadstairs, United Kingdom3 contributionsA lovely seaside break on the windswept north Kent coast. The highlight of the visit was long walks along the beach and cliff tops. The coastline is beautiful, although there’s limited facilities bars or cafes. The summer would be a better time to visit. Botany Bay beach is a gem, there’s even a naturist area apparently!Visited January 2025Traveled with familyWritten January 6, 2025

This beach and surrounding area is not set up for the hoards of people that descend on it. It is at the end of a residential road with a car park that can only accommodate about ten cars. Local residents cannot access their homes because cars park on double yellow lines and block the road completely. There are no adequate toilet facilities. People leave their rubbish either on the beach or by the side of overflowing bins rather than taking it home. The bins have been set on fire by idiots throwing their barbecue equipment in them. Some morons just leave burning barbecues on the beach along with dirty nappies, etc. There are other beaches in the area that are more geared up for tourists with parking and toilet facilities. This is a small residential area that is not able to accommodate large amounts of people.

A cheeky couple of nights away without the kids that didin't break the bank. We staid at the Botany Hotel a seaside pub restaurant. It was worth paying a bit extra for the sea view and we were rewarded with a magnificent morning view from our room. Anyway the beach itself was much quieter than in summer. We took advantage of a rare sunny late Autumn day and headed to the naturist beach area for a swim. The water's surprisingly warm. I suspect it gets a lot colder as winter progresses but we lasted 15 minutes swim before returning shivering to the hotel for a much needed hot chocolate. Two nights away with change from £350, no kids and a skinny dip to boot. We'll be back!!!!!!!

Parking is a nightmare. Kingsgate and Fitzroy avenues are private roads and you will get a parking ticket. Better to go to Joss bay where you have cheap parking, a cafe, toilets, lifeguards,a kiosk selling inflatables etc. None of these can be found in Botany or Kingsgate bay. In fact there is nothing but sand and sea.

In winter time can take dog and walk Margate to Broadstais on beach when tide is down. In summer can be too many people and dog not allow. The toilet is not good. Location is popular summertime for naked people mostly man for swim and take sun. For naked area they go left on beach after park near Botany Bay pub. Pub is good.

The public toilets were the most disgusting I have ever used. We arrived on Monday lunchtime and there was no toilet roll, overflowing sanitation bins with soiled tissue on the floor and a very strong smell of old urine, indicating they had not been cleaned since the weekend. We arrived at midday and left at 4.30pm and did not see a cleaner in attendance. With a beach this busy cleaning should be a priority at a minimum and ideally a cleaning attendant should be there at all times during busy periods, as this presents a health and safety issue to the public.

Please take note THANET COUNCIL.
This beach is completely unsuitable to visit. There are no parking facilities, contradictory to what some adverts say. The roads are jammed and dangerous due to the crowds of people waiting to park. Recently, there have been cars driving on pavement.
There are no amenities at this site. The toilets are absolutely disgusting and always blocked. This is a health hazard that needs to be addressed expeditiously.
Joss Bay which is a 5 minute drive away has lots of parking facilities, toilets and amenities, without the danger encountered visiting this beach.

Visited this lovely area of Kent with two male friends whilst in the vicinity. Even in winter it is an area of outstanding beauty and breathtaking views. It was a reasonably mild day for February and knowing I am a naturist my friends dared me to go in for a dip. Never one to refuse a challenge I stripped off there and then and took to the freezing water. The sea was bracing and definitely “Organ stops “ weather lol. But in hindsight it was a bit silly as I had not planned a swim and had no towel. Traveled back to their house in damp undies and bra wrapped in an over size reflective donkey jacket from the back of their car! lol. Won the bet though and will definitely be back in the summer!

Don't be confused by the picture - the picture is actually of Kingsgate Bay! I went to Botany Bay today with my family to enjoy the long stretch of sands. It was a bit windy but the sun shone this afternoon. One tip. Park either in Kingsgate Avenue or Fitzroy Avenue. You will get a parking ticket placed on your car but, providing you pay up quickly, it will only cost you £35 for a day's unmolested parking in these two wide roads. Don't try to park in Percy Avenue where you will have difficulty parking because a large number of houses do not have off-road parking. You will be able to park very close to Botany Bay. Whilst the pumping station is not the most scenic of views towards the western end of Botany Bay there are sand dunes that are fun to explore. Altogether a great day out - we will be back soon.

I've Been several times but never stayed. So we decided to stay for our anniversary. We have always liked the place . I found the restaraunt expensive but couldn't fault the food . Plenty of it and in a nice atmosphere. We stayed overnight and our room was clean. But the jukebox was loud and could not hear the TV . We had a early start so we're up from 5.45 but the jukebox went on.until gone 9 which wasn't good if your in bed early. I found the room to be really hot even though we switched all the radiators off and opened the window. The pillows felt like sand bags and were hard. But the bed was awesome and crisp clean sheets were amazing. We went for breakfast at 7 and the young girl was so helpful . The breakfast was just beautiful. Good quality food and plenty of it. All staff were great and polite. I would recommend to anyone. But for us personally even though I know the area I probably would not stay again. It felt like being in the middle of nowhere. I would like to thank the staff for a lovely stay and wish them a good new year.

I visited bank holiday weekend with the family and it was chock a block. Thankfully a lovely woman at the bottom Fitzroy Ave offered her front garden to park on for the day for a reasonable price as the area is permit parking only. I’ve taken her number and can now book a spot for when I next come down! Would recommend parking with her as it’s a big fine otherwise with a traffic warden giving people tickets. Great area to take the family! I’ve heard it’s quiet during the week.

Hello - we'd like to visit Botany Bay one of the weekends for a day trip - can someone please suggest where we can park - are there any bays which we can reserve online in advance to avoid the last minute hassle please? Thanks a lot.

Hi there can you walk with a pram from Broadstairs to Botany Bay and then onto Margate? Thanks!
Written April 29, 2021
You can dig. Yes. You’ll find plenty of souled nappies, buried rubbish and human faeces if you do.

We're thinking of buying a home on Percy Avenue and was wondering whether parking on Percy Avenue is residents permits only? Thanks
Written June 21, 2020
At present it is not permit parking but there is a consultation in place. this has its advantages and disadvantages as if the property does not have a drive you will struggle to park if it is a warm day, you will possibly even find the road inaccessible due to the poor parking from visitors to the beach.
Written July 15, 2020
Hello
is this a busy beach or usually quiet?
Written May 21, 2020
Unfortunately some of the huge numbers of people using this beautiful beach leave behind bottles, soiled nappies, empty packets, and even faeces. There isn’t car parking available for most of the visitors.
Written August 10, 2020
Hi we going visit Botany Bay tomorrow so I need to know car parking post code
Written August 10, 2019
Don't park in the posh road leading up to the hotel as they have a scheme in where they fine you £100. I park in the normal road parallel to the posh one slightly north. Both go to the hotel. You need the postcode for the " botany bay hotel".
