See what the Romans and Moors saw many years ago - a 360 view of Andalusian countryside from a very high perch. We walked through Gaucin and then climbed up to the top of the castel. Not very strenuous or treacherous but good foot maneuvering...More

This unpretentious little castle sits above the village of Gaucin and allows public access unreservedly and without charge. The condition of the access and surrounds are very well maintained. The views are just amazing and are truly 360 deg. . On a clear day you...More

To rework a phrase. Gaucin is a renowned white village in the Ronda region. It is very popular with visitors particularly in Summer. Probably it's stand out feature is the Castillo del Águila (Eagles Castle) that dominates the town. If you don't want to climb...More

Go there in the morning to avoid the heat. It opens 10.30. The view from the top is magnificient and it is a great place to just walk around.

A lovely walk up to the castle ruins to be greeted with spectacular views. A bit rocky at times and steep but a good walk.

Highly recommend that anyone who stays in Gaucin make the hike up to the Castillo ruins - it is only open for a few days a week, and for limited hours on those days (like many places, closed for siesta from 2pm to 5pm). You...More

It's well worth the climb up to Gaucin's castle for the views in 360 degrees from there, but you will certainly feel that you have had some good exercise by the time you reach the top. It's not open on Mondays and Tuesdays and opening...More

You need to be relatively fit to climb to the castle and even then, additionally fit to scale the ancient ruins atop of the hill. Having done so, you will be rewarded with spectator 360 degree views. Do not miss the little historic church within...More
