10/10 we went on the Silves river trip 2 years ago and again this year and both times was left wanting more. The woman who drove the minibus was very friendly but didn’t catch her name. Carlos was great giving high quality information throughout the trip and what wildlife we should expect to see ( apart from the turtles have gone missing) and was also a great general conversationalist really making the trips feel more personal ( Thank you for giving us your sangria recipe may make our own and bring it for you next time!!!). The chicken was cooked well and enjoyable and we like how Carlos gets all the lunch from the chicken to the wine to his homemade sangria all from local areas really adding to the experience and feel the whole that Portugal has to offer. Another thing I like about Alvor Boat Trips is that it’s always good value for your money as 2 years ago we went on the cave trip with swimming in caves however due to extreme waves and high traffic to the swimming cave the driver took us back to a quiet spot in Portimoa area and gave us extra time swimming.

Persuaded my partner to spend the morning fishing, and saw the signs in A22 shop so booked for Friday morning. Arrived to find the boat getting ready and joined by a young British couple and a couple of French guys. Luis made everyone welcome and explained that due to the rough sea we might not be able to get out. Luckily, he decided it was safe to continue out to sea and off we went, with spray flying. We had no luck at the first mark, but at the second, the fish turned up, with us all catching steadily. Three of the six were a bit seasick due to the swell but they were all put at ease and plenty of fish were caught. Carlos and Luis were then competing back at the harbour displaying their fish gutting skills. Great fun and I’d recommend it to anyone.

…………….. take a boat trip", I said to my better half. Although the little cabin on the quayside in Alvor was shut, we noted the time it would be open the next day (10:30am) and the time of the trip to Silves the next day (2.00pm). Sure enough we met Paola at 10:30 the next day and booked and turned up on time to be taken by mini-bus (the tides that day did not allow the boat to come alongside) to the Marina in Portimao. Along with seven others, we boarded the solar-powered Alvor Flor Do Sol and set off, beautifully quietly!!, up river towards Silves with Skipper Luis and Carlos. A beautiful sunny day can only be bettered by a nice cold glass of wine, fine scenery, excellent and knowledgeable local hosts and good company and we got all of them, PLUS an Osprey and a couple of Kingfishers!! Arriving up the narrow channel to Silves, which when we have visited this lovely town before by car was almost dry!!, was great. The couple of hours ashore, spent meandering and sitting in the cool square up the hill was just right. The return trip down river towards a setting sun with some excellent Piri Piri Chicken, salad, drinks and sweet oranges was perfect. Sad to leave, we berthed back in Portimao Marina and were brought back to our resort in Alvor after a wonderful afternoon. We would HIGHLY recommend this trip and would like to thank all at Alvor Boat Trips for this great, value for money, experience. Carlos, next time I see you the milk is on me!!!

We set off from Portimao Marina towards Albufeira. We were in a RHIB boat with 7 passengers plus 2 crew. We coasted along the shoreline, visiting the caves as we proceeded east along the coastline. There were a number of caves with each one having its own sculpture by nature. The caves were spectacular and we even managed to get inside 2 or 3. A very enjoyable trip, well presented by the crew and then, to top it off, a fast run back to Portimao. An excellent couple of hours and definitely recommended.
