10/10 we went on the Silves river trip 2 years ago and again this year and both times was left wanting more. The woman who drove the minibus was very friendly but didn’t catch her name. Carlos was great giving high quality information throughout the trip and what wildlife we should expect to see ( apart from the turtles have gone missing) and was also a great general conversationalist really making the trips feel more personal ( Thank you for giving us your sangria recipe may make our own and bring it for you next time!!!).

The chicken was cooked well and enjoyable and we like how Carlos gets all the lunch from the chicken to the wine to his homemade sangria all from local areas really adding to the experience and feel the whole that Portugal has to offer.

Another thing I like about Alvor Boat Trips is that it’s always good value for your money as 2 years ago we went on the cave trip with swimming in caves however due to extreme waves and high traffic to the swimming cave the driver took us back to a quiet spot in Portimoa area and gave us extra time swimming.

Today we had the pleasure of spending the day with Luis and his crew out fishing on some of the nearby reefs. I have done multiple reef fishing trips and this was by far the best one.

Due to current restrictions I believe the capacity is somewhat limited but we were the only paying customer on today's trip. The captain was flexible and even entertained a custom departure time for us. He was super nice on the phone and assured that we'd have a great day.

We left the port and he took us out further than normal as the better, higher quality fish hang out a bit further off shore this time of year. We wouldn't have known any different so we really appreciated that the captain would take care of that for us.

Being relative novices he was patient with us and helped us with bait and taking fish off hooks all trip.

It was an all around splendid day and we even brought home some fish that we barbecued later that night. Top notch!

Absolutely wonderful from start to finish picked up from hotel to the marina kept up-to date with all information along the way - once on board started with orange cake n coffee lovely start to the morning Carlos and Louis very entertaining and informative as we glided up the river towards Silves. Had 2 hours to nosey around the town visited the church and the castle which are lovely and even had time to grab a cold beer watching the world go by. Time to get back in the boat and started if with a lovely glass of sangria or you hound have wine, beer or soft drink and then a 3 course meal pate n toast, fresh chicken and a wonderful salad topped off with fresh fruit and then as a surprise as it was our anniversary fizz n cake truly favours trip and would recommend without a doubt

We took the 14 person speed boat tour of the caves. The captain was very skilled at manoeuvring the boat in and out of the caves. The crew were friendly and gave an informative narrative of each cave and the local area. We booked the tour from the kiosk in Alvor which I would recommend you to do as they can tell you if the minimum of 8 people has been met and also which slots are available. They also picked us up promptly from our hotel and delivered us back too after the tour. We were escorted to the waiting boat in the Portimao harbour where we departed. For 30 euros each for a 2 hour tour was well worth it and a highlight to our holiday- well done Alvor Boat Trips!

Augustine the Captain was brilliant. Fun, informative and very helpful, as was his assistant. We arrived at the port and as much as the boat was scheduled to take 8 people, only myself and my son and another couple arrived. Had everyone arrived, I feel the boat may have been a little crowded. However, my son and I had a great time, caught a loads of fish including Bream and Mackerel.

On leaving the boat we were asked if we wanted the fish. We couldn’t cook them ourselves where we were staying but the Captain informed us that the first restaurant on the quayside would prepare and cook the fish for us for 8 Euros each. We stopped there, ordered a bottle of wine and some salad and had the freshest fish ever!!

Persuaded my partner to spend the morning fishing, and saw the signs in A22 shop so booked for Friday morning. Arrived to find the boat getting ready and joined by a young British couple and a couple of French guys. Luis made everyone welcome and explained that due to the rough sea we might not be able to get out. Luckily, he decided it was safe to continue out to sea and off we went, with spray flying. We had no luck at the first mark, but at the second, the fish turned up, with us all catching steadily. Three of the six were a bit seasick due to the swell but they were all put at ease and plenty of fish were caught. Carlos and Luis were then competing back at the harbour displaying their fish gutting skills. Great fun and I’d recommend it to anyone.

We set off from Portimao Marina towards Albufeira. We were in a RHIB boat with 7 passengers plus 2 crew. We coasted along the shoreline, visiting the caves as we proceeded east along the coastline. There were a number of caves with each one having its own sculpture by nature. The caves were spectacular and we even managed to get inside 2 or 3. A very enjoyable trip, well presented by the crew and then, to top it off, a fast run back to Portimao. An excellent couple of hours and definitely recommended.

We had a fabulous morning fishing with Alvor Boat Trips from the beautiful harbour in Alvor. The men were very patient with us as novice fishermen(/woman) and were particularly good with our two boys aged 11 and 10. Afterwards they recommended a restaurant in the harbour that cooked our catch for a small charge. I would strongly recommend!

This was our second time booking a 2-hour fishing trip with Alvor boat trips. We have some younger kids and the trip was as much fun for adults and kids alike. The crew (2 guys) on the boat ware great, fully of chat and stories and everyone in our group caught fish. It’s already on our “must do” list for our next trip to Alvor.

Recent boat trip to visit the caves. Generally good and the guides did their best to keep the whole 2 hour experience interesting and explained everything in English and Portuguese.

However the trip was on a speed boat which can go quite fast and the ride back was choppy. Of course this is dependent on weather and sea conditions but not all may tolerate such a sailing.

Also please note that though labelled Alvor Boat Trips, the sailing departed from the Tivoli marina at Portimao - we had no problems finding it or boarding, but there is very very little to do directly around that area and you would need to walk to either Praia de Rocha or Portimao town both of which are not short walks in hot sun with little children.

Would recommend but taking the above into account.
