We took the fjord cruise and the scenery was magnificent. It's an up and back trip. The waterfalls are so beautiful. The boat makes a stop on the return part, about 1/2 way back. The stop is essentially just a small dock. This is to...More
Was one of the points in our family journey. It is highly recommend to rent a motor boat and sail through the fjord. There are also great view points on both sides of mountains. Village is a bit crowded with tourists from cruise liners, but...More
What a beautiful village. You travel up this Fjord deep into Norway and as you come around the final bend you come upon a most delightful village nestled below the mountains. On the day the sun was shining making the mountain, village and water look...More
This was on a cruise back in July - Independence of the Seas. You could consider it one of the largest cruise ships out there, but it was really small compared to this fjord. For the most part, the weather that day was just right,...More
This place just too good. Amazing drive and great view. You have to be here before October as the cruise stop sailing from November. I can't express enough about the feeling of being there. Just see it to believe it .
We were very lucky the day we arrived into Geiranger. It was raining the days before and the days after. Sailing in that morning, it was beautifully peaceful. The sun was bright and you can see for miles. Try to make it up to one...More
The grandeur of the fjord is almost beyond belief. It is beautiful in every sense of the word; the views are stunning and waterfalls plunge in to the fjord. The snow capped mountains when we visited simply enhanced the beauty. Even large cruise ships appear...More

I booked the tour online from 'visit Norway fjords.' I started the one day tour from Alesund. Just followed the instructions in the printed itinerary. We started off by taking the bus in the early morning. This bus took us to board a ferry boat. Then another ferry board to get to Geiranger fjord.
Not too much except for an outstanding view as you approach from either direction. It’s a small place, which in season is full of tourists from the cruise liners. Quietens down at night, though. Check it out on google

See similar thread - https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g190… Please update your profile with location - it helps to give you specific advice. For 7 days either choose southern Norway for fjords or northern Norway for Lofoten and northern lights - you can't do both in such a limited time.

Norway in a nutshell (abbriviated) (5 Replies)
Is there a 3 day, 2 night Norway in a Nutshell trip leaving Oslo by train going to Flam and then to Geiranger Fjord & back to Oslo or to Bergen?
November 26, 2016|
Oslo - Bergen on Noway in a Nutshell, Hurtigruten overnight to Ålesund continue with same ship to Geiranger and back to Ålesund, night in Ålesund, bus to Åndalsnes and train to Oslo. Trip to Geiranger only available in summer. May be possible to leave ship in Geiranger and take tour to Molde via Trollstigen. Overnight and bus and train to Oslo from there. Hurtigruten doesn't allow cabins to be booked for that short stretch in main season, but may be released close to departure. FjordTours...More
