The Korsmyra is a revelation.
As you drive in from the North, having taken a twenty minute stop at the heartbreakingly beautiful Eidsvatnet lake, Please remember to stop there and get out of the car and walk walk walk walk.,Then and only then may you drive up through the barren Indreeidsdalen valley and up the last hilly stretch to the Korsmyra.
Korsmyra means the flat area between mountain and valley,, between the Mountain and the magnificent Geiranger fjord valley. The car park is on the South side of the main road so get your boats on,a good warm jacket adn stroill around up here at 640 metres above sea level. (2000 feet ) .
The valley to the east of you ,the Gråsteindalen valley, is accessable by road ,by foot, and of course by local skiers and snow shoe shodded wanderers in the winter .

If you come here in May-October please go to the south western top of the parking spot and look to your right, across the main road. You will see a steep path which will lead you out along the ridge and give you a peaceful and incredible view of the Geiranger fjord and the valley, with the magnificent Mount Dalsnibba throning in the centre of the eastern valley.. Hiking boots are a must, and no noise,no coaches,no cars will be your reward. Enjoy !!

This easy hiking track starts at Korsmyra parking lot, on the road RV63 between Eisdal and Geiranger, more or less at the top of the fjord. It is a huge parking lot with toilets (closed in October when I visited). The track looks like a seldom used road/unpaved track, and is easy accessible. Start: if you look at the sign that mentions several hikes, walk to the left. Or seen from the toilets; walk to the other end of the parking lot (in lenght) and go to the left.
The track offers beautiful views.
I thought Geiranger town was a bit of tourist trap, but visiting Geiranger, made me discover this track. It is another example of the beauty and diversity of Norwegian nature. The first weeks of October was great time to travel Norway, beautiful orange/yellow colours as shown in the foto's and mostly sunny weather (although I may have been lucky with that).
