- Debbie C1 contributionOur visit with Francesco was a highlight of our trip to Italy. We first had an informative mill visit. But the highlight was the olive oil tasting, which was much more than olive oil. The drive up the mountain led to the old family home with a stunning view. The tasting was outside and followed by homemade pasta and many other delights. And wine. Lots of wine. I highly recommend the tour. The only reason for 4 stars is that we have not received some of the products that were ordered 3 months ago.Visited October 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 28, 2025
- Bernadette W3 contributionsThe olive oil tasting at Ravagni was an amazing adventure. Francesco is a wonderful host, full of energy and stories about his family mill, and a passion for the quality of his products. Not being there at harvest time, the demonstration of how the oil was made was interesting but left a lot to the imagination. But the second part of the experience was wonderful – the drive up into the hills, the tasting of all the different oils and the wines, the views from the house over the lake and the mountains, the ‘light’ lunch which was actually a fabulous three course meal with delicious home made pasta and an authentic Tuscan platter of home grown produce. Highly recommended for an amazing afternoon. Good luck with your celebration party Francesco, we wish we could be there!Visited May 2024Traveled with friendsWritten June 1, 2024

We 8 friends shared the table with him and other guests and other friends of friends.... even from Toronto CANADA and we shared conversations, laughter, genuine food, plenty of wine and superb oil. An experience to do and do again. Thank you very much FrancescoVisited April 2024Traveled with friendsWritten April 15, 2024

An incredible experience! The olive oil and the balsamic tasting was phenomenal and our host was exceptional! Francesco is extremely knowledgeable and his “Balsamic experiment” is a must. I was extremely impressed and the quality of the products is just amazing! Attend their upcoming anniversary celebration festivities, it will be unforgettable!

Our family was looking for an authentic Tuscan experience and Francesco and his family did not disappoint. We started with a brief tour of the olive oil production facility and then took a drive to Francesco's home where we were immediately welcomed with a glass of wine and an expansive sampling of the family's wide variety of oils and spices. We enjoyed a picture-perfect evening amongst the many fruit and olive trees, eating, drinking, and laughing for hours. It was absolute perfection and I would highly recommend a visit - but don't be in a hurry. This is an experience that you'll want to savor slowly.

We spent a few hours with Francesco in early July while we were staying in Tuscany and it was one of the highlights of our trip. We have 3 teenage children and we all loved it. Fun learning about traditional olive oil production, but the experience of spending time at Francesco’s table, in a 450 year old family house, high in the hills, whilst tasting olive oil, enjoying lunch and wine and the other products they make - it was fantastic. We all left with the biggest smiles and bottles of oils. Thank you Francesco.

Our visit to Ravagni and our time with Francesco and his other guests was easily the most memorable day of our trip to Italy. We first visited the family olive oil mill to see and understand the olive oil-making process, then followed Francesco to his home where his wife had prepared an incredible lunch feast. We tasted the deliciously pure olive oils, balsamic vinegars and wine, and sampled some of the lovely skin care products, too. It was a treat to spend the day and chat with other travelers from all over the world. I can't sing Francesco's praises enough; he is incredibly kind, welcoming, hospitable and generous. Truly a memorable experience!

Francesco gave us a brief tour and introduction to the "frantoio" (olive oil 'factory') which has been in his family since 1412 and an introduction to the oil extracting process. We were then led up the hill to his family home for a late-summer lunch of fresh pasta and produce from the garden, generous pours of house-made wine and grappa and plenty of opportunity to taste all manners of flavored olive oils and vinegars. After lunch there was time to have a wander around the property, admire the breathtaking views and purchase wine, oils, soaps and body products.
Francesco is a wonderful host- welcoming, animated, passionate about his work and happy to open his home and share his knowledge. I only wish we had visited in November to witness the olive harvest!

My wife and I have many cousins still living in Italy, when we visit them, they are so incredibly kind, welcoming, lovely, funny and happy. Francesco feels as if he was another visit with family!! He is so passionate about his continued old-ways-technique of crushing olives and making pure, delicious olive oil. He showed us the production operation, then had us sit out on a porch area and fed us a great meal. We stayed here at least 4 hours. His oil (of all types of flavors) is fantastic, the vinegar, the wine, the truffle paste... everything homemade! What pride!! I love this man, I want to be this guy! He treated my family with love and continues to stay in touch through social media. We bought 8 one liter cans of olive oil to be shipped, it did take six months for the oil to get here, but Francesco came through!! Go here for an memory making visit.

Our family had an absolutely amazing and memorable experience, beginning with a brief tour and explanation of the olive oil making process, followed by a short drive to Francesco's house for a fabulous lunch. The drive to his house was a bit of an adventure in itself, and when we arrived there, the views were amazing, and a beautiful table was set for our large family. His "light" lunch started with tastings of different olive oils and vinegars. This was followed by a delicious pasta dish and then an assortment of various specialties, and the wine kept flowing. We asked Francesco to order us a special birthday cake for dessert, in advance, as we were celebrating everyone's special birthdays that we couldn't celebrate together over the last couple of years because of COVID. Francesco was a gracious and very entertaining host, and helped to make this day one of the most memorable days of our trip to Tuscany.

Great experience both in respect of amazing food, olive oil and an incredible hospitality of Francesco! He is such a charismatic person, who is doing business with love and passion. Definately will come back with my friends (hopefully next year for the 600 year anniversary of Francesco’s family business!). Highly recommended for those who are looking for a memorable experience of Tuscany - hospitality, tastes, enthusiasm and energy!

If you are looking for a unique, authentic, interesting and fun experience - this is it! It was fantastic to see the mill and hear some of the nearly 600 years of history. Francesco quickly makes you feel like friends and not only do you get the chance to taste some amazing olive oils, but you get a sense of the “slow life” of italy with a wonderful lunch in great company. We will never forget our afternoon!

Francesco was expert at explaining how olive oil is made and how modern marketing has made us confused about what we buy. When he presented a wide range of samples for us to try, it was lovely to taste the pure flavour of the olives, then some oil infused with herbs and chilis, and then the vinegars from his grapes and honey from the farm. It was a great experience and the food prepared by charming Olivia was simply delicious. Throw in a spectacular view and you have a wonderful memory to take home with cans of oil.

Has anyone had trouble getting products they bought and had Francesco ship? We are going through many months of waiting for ours, just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.
Written March 9, 2020
Yes, we waited about four months, then about half our order came in. About three months after that, the rest of our order came. So, he did finally come through; my wife kept hounding him! I wonder if he ever has very much olive oil on hand? As much as I love Francesco, part of his charm is the free flowing spirit he has - maybe his personality doesn't lend itself to punctual sending of products. One more important thing... the first delivery came, no questions asked. The second part of our order was held up by Fed Ex. I had to tell them it was from a person, not a business, or they would send it back.

Hey there, I am pretty sure that you will have to make arrangements. It's not the sort of place you just drive up to. It's his families home/business. I think you will have to send a note and set up a visit. Highly recommend!

I think it was 30 Euros - which for the amount we ate and drank was excellent value.
