The walk starts near the old village of Francavilla di Sicilia. Don't expect to get very near to the river. There are two places where the "Gurne" are visible: from the foot bridge over the Alcanatara near the barrier, and another nice view near the ruins of a bridge over the river. The nicest part of the walk is the climb on the mountain flank, where you get a good view over the valley of the Alcantara. You can get a free map of the trail at the tourist office of Francavilla, but it's outdated: the trail circles all the way back to the old village, whereas the map stops at mark 9.

The trail goes around a mountain peak and by the river and it takes almost 2,5 with kids and photos. Easy walking except the steeper part where the path wasn't that beaten and full of weeds. By the way recommended for the families

We tracked for about 30-40 mins only to find all the access to the river and rockpools has been closed off. It looked lovely, and the scenery is worth a walk alone. But with hot small kids desperate for a dip in the river, it would have been nice if they told you there was no access at the start of the walk rather than at the end!

This is so worthy a visit. Take a walk in the beautiful nature around it and take a swim in the really cold pools. Beautiful waterfalls around and the rocks surrounding it. The water is totally clear but really cold

Path through plants in quit place with only small lizzards with me. Starts at town end and ends near the bigger supermarket. The path takes about an hour to walk and is easily done.
