CITY HALL
Mar 2019 • Couples
This building, rather plain, was constructed in 1470 as Palazzo San Francesco, a convent named for St. Francis of Assisi. The convent was closed in the 1800’s, after the collapse of the roof and became the seat of municipal government.
On the façade of the building are 3 plaques, one memorializing those who were massacred in 1920 during a march and the other memorializing the 24 that died from the military tribunal in 1860. In addition, the seal of the city and a memorial plaque to the Unknown Soldier decorate the façade, which is topped with a clock.
