Paros Park
About
A protected seaside area of 80 hectares with a network of walking trails, impressive rock formations, caves, hidden coves, beaches & traces of history. Paros Park has an outdoor amphitheater and runs the summer Festival at the Park, with concerts & plays. There's also a free open-air cinema by the sea with summer film showings. At the central beach, there is a cafe & water sport facilities. The renovated monk cells of Ai Yiannis Detis monastery, hosts a permanent historic exhibition entitled "The Island of Paros through Russian cartography between 1770 and 1774". The chapel of the monastery and the catering facilities of the beach-bar make weddings at the Park a privileged choice.

We loved Paros and Paros Park was one of the highlights of our stay. We spent a great half day here (although it could easily be a full day trip).
The park is a ruggedly beautiful area of rocky landscapes, beaches and little bays spread over about 80 hectares. The area has been preserved and protected since 2009.
The main things to see here are:
i) MONASTIRI BEACH
There are 3 park beaches, the main one being Monastiri which has all the trappings of a popular Greek beach - sun-beds, umbrellas, beach bar. It’s a lovely beach but we didn’t linger here.
ii) PERIKOPETRA BEACH & TOURKOU AMMOS
The other two beaches are both natural and unexploited, without any facilities or commercial paraphernalia. Tiny little Perikopetra Beach is a picturesque bay and Tourkou Ammos is a long, sandy stretch of beach with calm, clear waters. This is where we swam.
iii) HIKING (Trail #3)
Several marked walking trails lead through the park. We followed Trail #3, an easy and very scenic coastline path dotted with wildflowers. It took us past striking rock formations to the more remote beaches where we jumped into the clear water.
iv) AGIOS IOANNIS DETI MONASTERY
An easy thing to do while here is to climb up to the blue-domed monastery which sits high above Monastiri Beach. Although it wasn’t open when we went, it was worth the short climb for the panoramic view back down over Nouassa Bay.
v) OTHERS
Other points of interest along the various walking trails are the Korakas lighthouse, a small museum, and the historic remains of an 18th century Russian Naval Base, although we didn’t have time to see any of these.
ENTRY: Free entry to the park
TIPS: If you’re planning on walking or spending any time at the more secluded beaches and bays, you’ll need to bring your own supplies - water, sunscreen, towels, snacks etc. Apart from Monastiri Beach, there are no facilities throughout the park.
GETTING HERE: We caught the small taxi-boat that departs regularly from Naoussa to Monastiri Beach (€10 return). Apart from driving, this is the easiest and most enjoyable way to get there.

2 beers and a Greek salad in a plastic box with plastic cutlery delivered to the table in a carrier bag ..... €18!!!!
No service. I complained about lack of service and prices to the bar man. He said that the owners wanted the bar kept open until the end of September with him alone staffing the bar. Hence the take away style Greek salad. €8 for that. The most I have paid anywhere in Greece is €7.50 and they were immense and came with proper service ie table cloth, metal cutlery, plates....need I go on. €5 for a beer. The most we have paid anywhere else is €3.50. To sum up. This is total exploitation and I am extremely saddened that visitors to Greece are exploited. The only way to stop this sort of thing is ......don’t frequent this bar.
The beach is lovely, the park has walks that are interesting. Enjoy this area.

We hiked along the suggested paths around the peninsula and were amazed by the nature and the clear blue and turquoise waters. The secluded beaches and rough fauna are so beautiful!! getting to Paros Park was quite challenging by public transport, we came from Parikia and had to change the bus in Naoussa, then get off at Kolympithres and walk around 30 minutes just to get to the entrance of the park. But then it was all worth it. I recommend traveling with an ATV or bike to the park, not by public transport but this did not take away from our experience at Paros Park.

My husband and teen daughter hiked from the monastery to the lighthouse on a fairly windy day and the views are fantastic. Wear good shoes, and bring water as it’s a hike over unusual rock formations. It took us about two hours with lots of stopping for pictures. Well marked trails. A good family activity with older kids.

We have been coming to Monastiri Beach at Paros Parko for as long as it has been organized. This year, the beach bar has new owners and we have seen the difference, disappointingly. Trying to make it more upscale, it has done a belly flop instead. Service is very slow, to the point of purposely ignoring tables , people are unfriendly with attitudes, and the aspects of what make this rough-around-the-edges beautiful cove do charming might get lost. We hope not.

Hi I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed by the new management of Café-Restaurant Monastri Beach. I'm from Parosweb and do the communication for Paros Park, but I'm answering to you as a person who supported from the beginning the project Paros Park and who likes in general to go out on Paros. I didn't want to answer before actually checking-out myself. As you might know Paros Park is a municipal venture administrated by an independent board of directors. There has been in the past some difficulties in running the food and beverage service, which requires some degree of professionalism. This is why Paros Park has decided this year to lease its Café-Restaurant to renowned professionals. Honestly, I have found the staff incredibly friendly and efficient, and the food of a high quality. I cannot know the special circumstances of your bad experience, but I'm sure that it must have been some exceptional bad moment. Please accept the apologizes of the management.

I stayed in Paros for 6 days and Paros Park quickly became my favourite spot on the island. An incredible destination for lovers of both culture and recreation!

1) Lovely trails with breaktaking views. I'd recommend the lighthouse route for the most spectacular views! Go in the late afternoon and watch the sun set over Paros. The trails are relatively easy and very well marked.

2) FREE open air cinema!! With a fantastic programme of old classic films. I'm a bit of a film buff and this was an absolute joy - watching some of my favoruite films under the stars.

3) Lovely (relatively secluded) beach with a cafe/restaurant.

4) Ancient Greek theatre with 700 seats! Looks spectacular, but I unfortunately didn't get a chance to catch any of the performances.

We throughly enjoyed our visits to Paros Park. It is just a hop across the bay in the water taxi for just over 6 euros return which is a very pleasant trip in itself. There are lots of different trails of which we covered most of them over our few visits. Our favourites were the Lighthouse and Cape Almyros.
The views were spectacular and although hot you get a breeze from the coast. We are not great beach loungers so this suited us well. After a couple of hours walking in the morning, you can then hire a sun longer and brolly from a nice lady on the beach for 12 euros to chill out in the afternoon. There is also a very pleasant bar/cafe where you can get drinks and snacks for moderate prices (compares with Naousa) - the freshly squeezed orange is very good! There are toilets nearby all keep immaculately clean by a lovely lady. All in all well worth a visit

Went for a fantastic walk up through Paros park today, amazing views and well signposted routes made life very straightforward. No one around and views were phenomenal!!! Best to start just after the dockyard, there’s a map and first post on your left, then path is easy to follow. A great afternoon exploring!!! Couldn’t believe it’s not rated higher but not complaining!!!!

Hike to the lighthouse is about 2km on good trails. The view is spectacular and worth the effort. Bring water and pay attention as the trails are a little confusing. At the base you can stop at the Beach for a treat or a swim. They also offer concerts and movie nights in their amphitheater if you are lucky enough to be there for a performance,
