Closed on Mondays, this Rontgen Museum gives the full history of the discovery of X Rays and the man behind it all. This is a "hands on" museum so it is appropriate for those who wants to see/learn everything and those who simply want to pass through. They offer hand held audio guides in English and German so you can go at your own pace. Is there anyone alive who hasn't had an x ray taken ever? This invention affects all of mankind and this is a wonderful way to learn more when in Lennep, Germany.

I came through this muesem with some coworkers (we all work in the Radiology field). I was amazed at how interesting it was. Even my children had a great time. It was great to see the history radiation and x-rays. Everyone was friendly there.

This museum is only part of a floor in a university building, but it tells the history of and explains the personality and lifestyle of the man who discovered x-rays and reinvented the way physicians understand anatomy. It is about 30 minutes to go through his life story and to see different iterations of his first machines but he had an interesting life and it is worth your time to go visit.

Lennep (a district of Remscheid) is a beautiful, picturesque town in the Bergisches Land with cobblestones and typical Bergisches houses with slate cladding. Dr. W.C. Röntgen was born here, his birthplace is here and there is a great museum, largely not very well known.

From birth and career to the discovery of "X-rays" by Dr. Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen, his "Nobel Prize in physics", and the technical developments over time. The visit is a lot of fun, very educational at the same time and, through great exhibits and experiments, also explains very well the risks and benefits of ultrasound, X-rays, computer tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Highly recommended!
