Endstation Linie 1 is an escape room that shines with its lovingly authentic furnishings and the excitingly staged story. The S-Bahn model is really amazing. There were 6 of us adults and we had a lot of fun with the story and the small and large surprises that keep cropping up. I think it's a really recommendable experience. What you should know beforehand: It sometimes gets dark suddenly and you have to be able to climb a ladder.

What can I say: very great rooms. While "The Prototype" is very classic and has incredibly questioned our ability to find things (solving mysteries is probably more our strength), "Endstation Line 1" was very immersive and super authentic. Both rooms were fun for us, although the station of course topped everything. As a Hamburger, seeing a real Hamburg S-Bahn in an escape room is a stark feeling and the euphoria was great. Everything about this escape room was great. Super (and especially related to the topic) puzzles, needed teamwork and a super briefing from Mr. Piepenschröter (Jonas).
100% recommended.

Great room with a lot of local connection.
Everything seems very authentic.
The puzzles are logical and the game leader was super nice and gave very skillful instructions.
Highly recommended.
We will also visit the next room.

The fourth stop on our escape room tour on Monday was "Endstation Linie 1" at RSCAPE - Escape Room Remscheid.
We were already introduced to the story via the booking confirmation. Our employer had sent us to a training course at the "Remscheid-Süd" station as train drivers. Here we were to get to know the new S-Bahn electric multiple unit "Series 490" and be trained for it.
At the station itself we were warmly welcomed by our training manager Mr. Piepenschroter, who also has his own Instagram profile, and then led into the training room.
But no sooner had the training started than an unexpected event led to us finding ourselves in a hopeless situation. From now on we only had one goal: to leave the station alive.
So much for the basic story of the room:
The real truth is that you are actually in the middle of the adventure from the very first minute. And that is actually due to Mr. Piepenschroter, an old-school instructor, in addition to an incredibly authentic setting. And it was already apparent in the early stages of the adventure what would be a common thread throughout the entire 75 minutes of the game. Everything about "Endstation Linie 1" makes sense, moving around in this setting is incredibly fun and you're almost a little sad when you've actually completed the adventure.
But first things first:
The showpiece of this immersive adventure is of course the S-Bahn that was built into this location. It's really very impressive when you stand in front of it from the outside. But looking back, the way the "Remscheid Süd" station was built around this S-Bahn is simply fascinating. Above all because you move through this adventure as if you were actually in a station. And there can be no better compliment for an escape room than that you actually forget the world around you.
The RScape team managed to create a technical experience, but its story has so much heart and soul that you are carried through this adventure.
As a group, we were able to move across the entire playing area of the station plus the S-Bahn interior and work through the various puzzles. You can probably say in advance that we puzzled our way through this experience without a clue, but that wasn't because the puzzles were too easy. No, the puzzle flow is so coherent that you quickly come up with the solution yourself. Objects and places that you can find in a station or on an S-Bahn are repeatedly included in the puzzles.
I don't want to go into too much detail about how we made our way out of the station. But the interaction with the S-Bahn in itself is quite a spectacle.
The elements of sound, light and smells fit perfectly into the overall construct of the "Remscheid-Süd" station and the S-Bahn. So perfectly, in fact, that it is only when you look back on the adventure and talk to the group that you notice how sound, smells and light guided you through the puzzle structure and the story of "Endstation Linie 1".
This is not meant to be a constant eulogy, but in the almost 250 rooms I have played, I have not had an experience like this. The RScape team has pulled off a real smash hit here, which will certainly be talked about a lot in the coming weeks and months.
With "Endstation Linie 1" we were able to play another real highlight of 2023. A year that showed what the German escape room industry is capable of.
After the game we had the opportunity to talk to Jonas Grimberg, who gave us some more insights into the development work for this adventure. Sometimes you just stand there with your mouth open when you hear how much effort and meticulous work went into this adventure. Hats off to him and thank you for this fantastic experience.
