Let's face it. The main attraction of the Glashuette is the massive parking area, albeit parking is for a fee, which is at the entrance of the historic center of Monschau, where traffic by car is restricted for license holders. However, having parked the car, take the opportunity to step into the Glashuette complex. We were in luck, because a glas blowing demonstration was being conducted, which held our attention for a while. The glass shop is overloaded with glass objects, which I won't call junk, because I am convinced that many objects were hand crafted by artisans, but it looked like a junk shop by the sheer amount of objects shown on the shelves. Furthermore, behind the glass shop are more shops, a restaurant an exhibition and a museum, some with an entrance for a fee, but most attractions were closed, the restaurant permanently I am afraid, so there was nothing to hold us there and delay our visit to historic Monschau. This review reads a bit negative I realize now when reading it back. Because maybe we were there too early in the day, or on the wrong day, and the Glashuette has surely potential when everything is open en running, I will choose a three point rating.

Situated on the outskirts of Monschau, this place is fantastic for anyone wanting to buy glass items. You can watch glass blowing, and even pay to let your children have a go. The glass ornaments are amazing, all different shapes sizes, colours and prices. There are other shops as well and a cafe/bar. Nice pace

We have stopped here several times and always seem to come away with a fascinating piece of glassware. It has an amazing selection of glassware and you can watch it being made, there are some shops to the rear, a fair bit of tat to me but amongst it all good German wooden toys and linen.

Went here with Leger coach trip on Christmas markets. Could spend a fortune in glass shop. Lots of things for gifts and quite cheap. You can also watch the men at work blowing the glass. Loved it

We get there by car and stoped at the Glass factory . We saw an amazing live demo how glass masters manufacture beautiful objects . The shop of the factory presents beautiful objects like vaze ,animals and other. Enjoyed very much. In the same place there are few others shops of artizanal products.

Hidden off the beaten track this little village really is a hidden gem.

The glass factory provides an insight into the the art of glasswork and has a sales room to purchase locally made glassware.

Pleanty of places to eat in the village and wonder at the amazing views

It is said that the crafting techniques at the glassworks have their origin in the Roman Empire and have been preserved to these days.
If you enter the 'Glasshütte', you'll find the glass blowing section at the left (you'll notice the heat development from there).
Demonstrations are given here and you can also try to blow your own master piece of glass.
The rest of the building is used as a shop, where you can buy glass items (not cheap and doubtfull whether everything was produced here).
In the adjacent building, you'll find a restaurant in the middle and several shops around it.
If you've got plenty of time in Monschau (or parked yoor car nearby), it's recommendable to visit this place. Also a good alternative for rainy days.

Situated on the outskirts of Monschau, this place is fantastic for anyone wanting to buy glass items and inside the complex cheaper gifts are available, mainly aimed at tourists.

You are able to enter for free to look at the glassware in the main area, if you want to see the glass blown it will cost you 5 euros, whilst inside the main area, towards the rear is another opening where you will find a cafe, WC's and other gift stalls with cheaper goods.

You can sit and watch the glass blowers for as long as you like, for no charge. It's fascinating to watch. For €5 you can have a go yourself, and keep the resulting bottle for watering house plants. I don't know what the minimum age is for this, but they allowed our 6 year-old to do it.

Lots of glassware for sale, and the prices are a lot more reasonable than Moreno...

The whole shipping complex that's attached is a bit naff, and just aimed at the gullible tourist with more money than sense.
