Relatively small museum but very interesting. Definently recommended if you like aircrafts as there is plenty to see.

Incredible museum. I really enjoyed my visit to see it's fine collection of Military aircraft and seeing Manfred Von Richthofen (Red Baron) artifacts.

A short history of aviation
May 2019
The museum offers a short and interesting history of aviation. Especially interesting is the exhibits with the first jet engines produced by the Germans during WWII. Most explanations are not translated into English which can be a bit of a hassle: Easy parking and not expensive. It only takes a little more than a hour to see the interesting stuff.

A great little museum of warplanes
Aug 2019
The museum has a small number of interesting aircraft - both replicas (i think) and real ones - from WW1 (Fokker Eindecker, Nieuport 17) and WW2 (Spitfire, 109 G-2, Fw 190) as well as some post war. And a fantastic collection of models, uniforms and personal effects from the wartime.

What sets the museum apart is that it gets all the way around the war flying both groundhandling, the aircraft and the pilots. The exhibition is a bit crowded due to lack of space.

The museum is located just outside Hanover and there is a bus to the museum.

There are limited parking spaces, but the museum is not overcrowded so it was not a problem when we were there.

Most explanatory texts are in both German and English.

There is neither a cafe nor a museum shop.

Worth far more than a Plan B
Mar 2019 • Friends
We were in Hannover for a few days and sought out a few indoor activities if the weather was poor. One of our 'Plan Bs' was the Luftfahrtmuseum in Laatzen. Fortunately(!) on the Saturday morning the weather was appalling, so we headed off to the museum - what an excellent decision this was.
Although small, there was an impressive range of aviation exhibits on offer ranging from the recent (F104 Starfighter), WW2 (Spitfire/Bf109/FW190) & WW1 (replicas of a Triplane/Camel/Nieuport) as well as a copy of the Spirit of St Louis.
Backed up with a massive range of models, engines and dioramas and artefacts - fortunately for those of us with limited (or in my case very limited) German, there are also commentaries in English.
We spent about 2 hours on site, and regarded it a 9 Euro's well spent :-).
If it hadn't rained we might not have even gone there, but this place is certainly worth a visit, and shouldn't be seen as a plan B.....

Nice aircraft museum
Apr 2019 • Solo
A small museum near Hannover fair where you can spend a good 2-3 hours exploring the history of German aircrafts.
There is always something new to learn when you visit a museum. Here I learned that the iconic Beetle car was built under the instruction of Hitler. It was built by a person called 'Porche' in the VW company. Today VW also owns the Porche brand.

Another interesting tidbit was the full form on BMW - it stands for Bavarian Motor Works. BMW actually started as an aircraft engine manufacturing company and them turned to motorcycles and cars :)
