    Amazing
An amazing experience for the price. A beautiful and complete historical place, offering much more content than most touristic places on similar purpose that charges much more money. An obligatory stop if you are come to Lourmarin.

    Highly recommend
Lovely, easy to explore, chateau with a fascinating history, beautifully restored. Some rooms are furnished with historical accuracy, others display a wonderful collection of furniture, art and household items. A lot of information is available in English as well as French. Beautiful views of the town and countryside from many windows and outlooks. A delightful place.

Beautiful chateau with great self-guided tour
My mom and I were both very impressed by this chateau! Exceptional architecture, and it is fully furnished, which is pretty rare in my experience and from what I've heard from others. There are great, detailed explanations of each room and the origins of the furniture and art (English available) through both a self-guided pamphlet you are given upon entry, as well as informational panels in each room. It's also just a charming place in general, with a beautiful garden and views of the town. The chateau is actively used by artists today and also hosts musical events, so it's a place I felt good about supporting. My mom and I chose to visit Lourmarin over some of the other Luberon villages in part to be able to go to this chateau, and we were so glad we did!

We all enjoyed the visit. It was our first chateau of such size. All my girls enjoyed walking around and inside. They all find something interesting inside. I liked fire places, Marusya liked some furniture, Viktoriia music tools. We could even touch some of the things. The cost was 18 for all 4 of us. We parked behind the town - so we additionally walked the whole old city

There is a constant rivalry between the sister villages of Lourmarin and Menerbes. The trick is to see menerbes first. its smaller, more intimate and you can see it in the morning. Lourmarin is larger, with a parade of shady squares, beautifully restored old houses, great shops and inviting cafes spilling out onto sunny terraces. So you should come after,as its perfect for a lazy, languid lunch followed by a long walk around town.

At this junction of your day,a visit to the immensely enjoyable Chateau is a naturally progression. Much of the village is set around a central bell tower, built on the remains of a medieval moated castle. Le chateau entry fee is the price of 2 ice-creams in Paris and offers charm and exquisiteness with a lovely staircase circulating up to the top floor.

But back to the twin villages. Menerbes may have the landscapes and views, but for us, Lourmarin entices the palate and gives your credit cards a suitable artistic workout. great flat layout,in town, surrounded by fields, vineyards and olive groves with superb forest escapade-opportunities to the north. Unlike other hilltop villages, its not high on a ridge with staggering views, but a civilised urban landscape offering some quality time-out from them.

The village fans out around the castle showcasing a pretty mix of old fountains, stone walls, cute houses and heaps of staircases running up to the front doors. Clouds of Colourful bougainvillaea and jasmine drift over terraces adding to the captivating town squares lined with lovely cafes.
If ambling through the quaint shops is your delight, than Lourmarin offers the right mix of home-wares,gardening fabrics, toys and artefacts which jostle creatively with the elegant fashion shoppes. There is a natural flow to this village helped immeasurably by the excellent flow of the rouge variety in outsize wine glasses. Eating here is a pleasurable pursuit and there are lots of nosh bars and eateries to enjoy a leisurely but comprehensive long lunch.
Bon appetite.

We passed a pleasant hour doing this tour. It is well presented and the English guides provided were good. It does make the best of the resources available but it is pricey for what it is. So not great value for money. There was a young lady practicing on the piano in the music room and this did add to the experience.

We really enjoyed exploring Lourmarin and the chateau is an important part of that. Our 12 year old son especially loved it - the staff was wonderful and they have great little treasure hunt maps for the kids, too (example: find these instruments in the music room or find all the shapes in this window pane). We really enjoyed our time there and would recommend it. I have nothing negative to say - the only reason it does not get the highest mark is because, well, with all the incredible breathtaking stuff in France it takes a lot to get the highest mark. :)

Stopped here to see the Grave of Camus. Definitely recommended for English majors and fans of Existentialism.

We walked from there to the Chateau in our daily quest for 10,000 steps.

Fairly good effort to put the castle in the context of French history.

Chateau looks impressive from the village and is worth a closer look, even if only for the views of the village from the castle courtyard (pleasant small cafe etc).
The chateau itself hosts musical events which I am sure are wonderful given the setting. The chateau itself has an interesting history which is well explained, but there is not much else of interest inside (minimal furnishings, art etc)..... but as I say, worth a look. Somewhere cool on a hot day!

Really not a lot to do, definitely not worth the entry price of €6.80 at the time of writing. Barely anything to see inside, you're better off admiring the architecture from the outside
