Look All - Around
Oct 2019
This town city hall has a nice front. The back of the building is very nice as well. It has a small courtyard with a beautiful fountain and statue. Even better, stain glass on second floor. The buildings around it are worth a second look, up close.

Hotel de Ville - the Town Hall of Vernon
Oct 2017 • Couples
As part of our Vernon walking tour, we stopped in front of the Vernon Town Hall - nice imposing large building. It seems that every town and village has a hotel de ville!

A Great pic ops!

While we were at a Port of Call, my husband and I had an opportunity to do some sightseeing here in Vernon. The area is a wonder of beautiful architecture and history. According to brochures, "The Town Hall was built at the end of the19th century in the impressive neo-classical style of the time on a newly created square. The city hall faces the collegiate church. The mayor who erected it took care to raise the bell tower higher than the church, because of the rivalry between religious and civil power at that time. On the back, a fine stained-glass window features the king Saint-Louis receiving three bunches of watercress upon his arrival in Vernon. The town's coat of arm has its origin in this story.

Nice building, in front of the main Church
Apr 2017 • Couples
A nice building located in the historical center of this tiny village, right in front of the main Church, in the middle of an area where one can find several small medieval houses with wooden structure.

classical hotel de ville structure

The building is in a very good state. In the middle of the old city. Worth walking around it, plus almost everything that there is to see in Vernon old city is 20 minutes by foot, so take a small walk, its worth it.

Beautiful Town Hall
Mar 2016 • Friends
This beautiful Town Hall stands in the centre of the town. It is extremely impressive and must have cost a fortune when originally built. As you stand at the entrance and look up you can read the words 'Liberte, Egalite and Fraternite'. This always reminds me of some French Royal Palace. We did not have time to go inside.

Marvellous half-timbered beauty in Vernon
Jul 2015
Wooden houses always stood the test of time. Vernon has over 200 such houses along the narrow alleys which are mostly cobble-stoned. The town hall is located right next to the Notre Dame church. After parking the car in one of the roads (parking can be quite tricky if you are driving a moderately large sedan, in my case a Mercedes E350).

Nice Building
Dec 2015 • Friends
The stain glass across the way in the church was much nicer, it's awkwardly lit too so you can't totally appreciate. The only nice thing I really liked was the view from the second floor of the town square and the ceiling in that room.

Stand at the balcony and look out to the river
Sep 2015 • Friends
We managed to stand outside the balcony in the Marriage chamber and see the views over the city and beyond the river

We are sure many famous people have stood where we did and changed history - but we were there to enjoy this building
