The corner part of the so-called ‘Spanish Pavilion’ near the market square made us think of some tower houses we saw elsewhere in Europe. It’s the oldest section of the building, dating from the mid-15th century, built as town hall. In 1530 an aisle in late gothic style was added. From 1586 onwards the building served several purposes. The pavilion takes its name from the time when it housed the Spanish garrison in Veurne. Today it’s a court of law. No idea what it looks like inside.
