This was so much fun. Make sure to bring a towel. There is a place to wash your feet at the end, but no towels are provided, although you can purchase one if you forget. There is a nice snack bar for a snack or drink before or after your walk. Some of the water is quite deep, so I do not recommend going in pants unless you bring a change of clothes. Not for those with super sensitive feet as you will walk over all kinds of surfaces including some rocks. The only downside is that the way it is set up you can only go through once with your entry ticket. Our son definitely wanted to go through a second time.

It's a barefoot walk of appoximately 2 km. You walk over all kind of materials (mud, grass, wood, stones, ...). At first it feels strange but is real fun. You can feel nature. Don't forget to bring a towel to clean your feet afterwards :-).

I went on this trial with my two kids (boys, aged 11 and 8). You can store your shoes in a locker. We went late during a weekday and it was not crowded at all. I imagine it can be crowded during peak hours and days. Everyone really enjoyed it. The kids asked to go again the next day. The hike is about two kilometers, which takes you through all kinds of different soils and challenges. It's a real treat to feel the different soils and a completely different way of hiking. These different soils also include mud and walking to water, so shorts are good. It was a hot day when we went so the kids were delighted to still find some mud. These are most fun, however, most of the time there is an option to go around these obstacles too. We did the hike in about two hours, which was perfect length for our bare feet. You can clean your feet after. Bring a towel.

I recommend you go during the week when it is less crowded than in weekends. It is a fun thing to do with friends or family. Don't miss this !

It's such a good idea to make a walk for the little ones and the big ones, with several sorts of feelings under your feet. You can do it almost all year. Not if it is less than 10 degrees, but even on rainy days.
The kids liked it!

It's a 2 km walk with no shoes on, it's a strange thing in the beginning, but it was fun! Sometimes it was cold, warm, hard , soft..The best thing to do is to bring a towel with you! It's a very calm walk, it was not busy at all!

Great experience to connect with the earth and how soil feels. Fantastic trail for young and old. Simple idea but very well thought through with eye for detail and a nice feel-good result.

The barefoot path is part of Lieteberg, one of the Hoge Kempen National Park gateways and situated in Zutendaal. When driving on the Stalkerweg, follows the signs on round-about for parking area (free). From here it is a small walk to the entrance. In addition to the barefoot path, there is also a cafe for drinks and refreshments, free toilets, etc. You are allowed to bring your own lunch under the condition that you do buy a drink! When you enter the entrance you can buy a ticket to enter the barefoot path. For those interested, you can also buy a combined ticket that grants you entrance to the butterfly conservatory and insect museum too. Both are quite small in set-up. Before entering the barefoot path, there are lockers where you can store your shoes, etc. They are coin operated (1 Euro) which will be returned when you open locker.

We have enjoyed the barefoot path quite a few times and keep coming back, each time it is a different experience depending on the group and time of year. The barefoot path is ideal after rain. Bark chip, etc. can hurt when paths are more dry and mud puddles have dried up.

This is a fun activity for young and old but there is a word of warning for older less mobile people, who can be challenged when climbing the log type stairs to reach maize and view tower. Since there are no short cuts, it is good to be aware of this.

Another thing we enjoy about the path is that they yearly add a new attraction to the path. This year they added a wooden bridge (boomkroonpad) right at the end.

I should also end that the entrance, where you buy your ticket is a tourist information office and great place to stock up on brochure of other attractions in the area. They also sell some local delicatessen (honey, some local schnapps, etc.)

When in the area, we can recommend a visit to this unique experience!

We keep coming back at least a few times a year to walk the Barefoot Path. What we like about it is that it is different each time we go, depending on the weather and the amount of recent rain. The more rain, the more water and mud puddles. Each year, they add new attractions to the path, making it fun to explore. There is also a butterfly conservatory, an insect museum and cafe for drinks and a limited selection of snacks (no lunch, etc.).
