Another pearl in this not well-know historic city. You can just wander the streets and take in the atmosphere. It looks pretty authentic.

Diestis a tipical belgian village, with pubs and restourants. around there, there's nothing so if you need to have dinner, diest is the best solution. I ate a delicius gulash in a strange pub call it "Casino" or something. I was expecting something like roulet and poker table but at the end it was a restourant with draft beers and the waiters was really friendly and kind.

Diest is one of the belgian cities who has still a living Beguinage. It is not crowded, and shouldn't be. There is also out- and inside a small parking. And in one place you can taste the daily soup with bread.

One of my favorites, a historical and clean place. Some of the houses are inhabited, some are used as shop, there is also a bistro and a restaurant. On the first sunday of the month there is a book market in the streets

always nice to visit one of the older buildings in Belgium, it gives you a good idea how these people lived in the past and still at this day, it's near the "halve maan" a recreational park where you can also enjoy a drink or ice cream, lot's of green.

It is a village in The village. The magic atmosphere of the religious timeless period of the Nuns is still there, in those small lovely roads. There are few artigianal shops and 2 cafè. Lovely make a walk. Nice event in september with all the candles to give light to the magic roads.

Beguinages are a bit similar in most places. I liked the atmosphere here better than in other beguinages because there was a cozy bar. The beguinage still breathed the religious atmosphere, with the little sculptures above every door. The entrance gate at the northwest looked old and authentic. So did the church. The sculptures of beguines were a nice addition. The little herb garden fits in nicely too, although I visited at the wrong time of the year to fully appreciate it. I felt the beguinage was fairly large, with several streets. Maybe they could add a beguinage museum, like they have in Turnhout. Certainly in connection with other historic sites in Diest I think there is a lot of touristic potential here.
