This wonderful little pearl in Turnhout, I have now visited twice - and I will definitly come back.

In het Spytighen Dyvel means "The regretful Devil". I was told about this place from friends who grew up in Turnhout, and they also took me there. The pub is small, traditionaly decorated, but clean and nice. The owner, Dirk, serves his custumers himself, and his memory is outstanding! He can remember orders from a group of 7-9 people, and come back 5 mins later with no mistakes. He is there quickly to take your order, but not before you have had a chance to check out the extensive beer menu.

Behind the bar, Den Spythighen Dyvel has a walk in fridge with glass walls, where the beer is stored. I am not certain how many different types he has i stock, but do check out the homepage to get an impression - we are probably talking around 100, and there are still new coming. In the menu they are nicely presented with name, colour and strength. The speciality is of course belgian beer, but they do serve a bit of foreign beer, as danish Elefantøl etc. as they also serve the usual snacks (cheese, nuts..)

This is a nice clean pub for beerlovers of all ages and sex. My group is in the mid 20'ies, but I have also seen guests of my parents and grandparents age. There is small but clean toilets and people smoke outside. People might get a bit drunk in here, but it's never a huge party where the guests gets sick, and I have never seen anyone, who couldn't leave the place in a nice and orderly way.

I will all time highly recommend to spend a night at In Het Spytighen Dyvel!

10 x members of a Norwegian beer-club visited this fantastic beercafe in Turnhout in the springtime this year. With a generous and well chosen beer-selection this is definitely a must to visit for beer-thirsty travellers like us. It ranks among the best beery places in the beery Belgium, so when in town be sure to visit this gem of a place.

Were in Turnhoutt for the Graspop festival and looking for a traditional Belgian beer bar. Saw Svinters review and headed straight for it. He was right it is a real gem, away from the touristy part of town, but still easily walkable. A really quirky old building, friendly staff and locals and beautifully kept draught Chimay. Spent a lovely hour there, sitting outside watching the world go by. I would recommend it to any beer lovers visiting Turnhout.

Huge selection of beers. Surprised to see most of them are from smaller brewers in Belgium. I asked for a suggestion and the owner just asked what kind of beers I liked and started summing up and let me tell you. He was spot on! The place to be in turnhout if you want to taste some unique belgian and foreign beers!

Thie beer Cafè/Pub is counted among the best 10 in Belgium, and that is for sure not only empty Words. Fantastic interior, old stylish, and a beer menu that can keep you ocupied for a while, at least till you drop off the Chair. Together With De Penge, you must visit this if you are in Turnhout!

I was curious if could find an IPA styled beer, so I asked for blonde and bitter. The host recommended a La Chouffe draft, which matches the requirements perfectly.
