A very interesting and funny tour into a salt mine museum. It started in a funny slide down and then exploring the mine, crossing the border between Austria and Germany, travelling by boat and many other interesting activities. Our guide was very kind and ready...More

This is a great place to visit. You are taken underground on a rail system. First you given a jacket and pants to put on over your own clothes. Then you are put on the long single file cart? Fun for all ages and a...More

Recommend this tour!! Answers to questions I had 1) Do they take credit card? Yes - Visa + Mastercard 2) If I’m visiting and it’s way hot outside, how do I stay warm inside without overheating in the parking lot? Well, it’s 10 degrees celsius...More

I didn't know at first if I would like this, but it is fantastic. It is so interesting. You are actually walking through some shafts that were dug out in the 15th century. You cross over from Austria into Germany inside the mountain and then...More

What an adventure! Take an easy train ride to Hellien from Salzburg (ask for a “Salt ticket” at the Salzburg train station), and don’t worry about the bus transfer. They have a bus/shuttle at the train station specifically for the salt mines. Once at the...More

Very good and informative guiding in a well preserved salt mine. My children especially appreciated the train ride into the mine, the slides and the boat ride. The pictures that are taken during the visit serve as nice memories/souvenirs, albeit at a somewhat stiff price.

I was fortunate to visit this salt mine situated deep within the mountains. You need to wear a white uniform provided by the mine. First you have to travel in a train like vehicle which take you down to the bowels of the mountain. Then...More

We went here a rainy day and had pretty high hopes because of the cost (19€). First we had to wait about 2 hours in line for the tour, it was hot and crowded. The time schedule wasn't correct so it was very difficult to...More

We went with one teenager. We all had a good time. The slides were not "wow" for us, but it was definitely a fun experience. They give you white pants/top to put over your clothes. The guide was very good. We showed up about 2:30...More

We recently visited this attraction having read about it in the tour guide. It was probably one of the most expensive excursions on our holiday but was definitely not worth it! We had hoped to gain much about the working of the mine but sadly...More

Hi, I understand there are two salt mines open to the public for tours, I'm not sure which one to do? We would love to go on the slides and the train, and the one with the boat/raft ride on the lake with the amazing luminous colours. We are a family with a 4-yr-old, and going to catch train/bus from Salzburg. Thanks!

Line 41 runs from several points near Hallein. Get off at the Bad Durrenberg/Salzbergwerk stop on this line. That stop is directly across from mine ticket office and parking lot. From Salzberg take bus 170 (160 goes there... More

Is there any danger with the slides? Is there bottom body support on the slide or are you needing strength in your legs to go over the rails, hold on and balance? It's hard to tell from the pictures. Is this okay for some who are age 60 or 70, mobile but perhaps not so strong? How fast do the slides go? Like rollercoaster scary?
