End of September is very calm here, most of the tourists back at home. The Ossiach lake was a great stop on the half way back to Czech Republic. If you have a bike, don't miss riding around the lake, it's not more then 30 km and very pleasant with great views in the lake.

Difficult to get to the lake in places but a gorgeous view from the road. Walked a little around the lake with the dog but the snow got the better of us. Worth a visit.…

Ossiacher See is a much quieter destination to its nearby more ritzy Worthersee. There is a ferry service and water sports to be had. Near by was the Kanzelbahn and we combined both these activities in one visit…

Lake Ossiach is popular for water activities, boating, swimming etc, but when you are not staying close to the lake and want to get a good impression of Lake Ossiach, take the round tour on the public transport boat. It is maybe a bit expensive, but the boat is a floating cafeteria. Free entrance with the "Kärnten Card". I enjoyed it very much; the weather was glorious and the lake beautiful. The round trip is about 2.5 hours and brings you back on the same jetty you started from.…
