Like you have never seen it before. (no people)

Where is everybody?
Just after internal travel started and there are not many people about.
This is a beautiful beach with fine white sand, unfortunately, there is also a lot of plastic waste that washes up. There doesn't seem to be a lot of sustained effort in clearing it up although I did see a party of volunteers doing their best on one day.
The town is immediately behind, there are a lot of restaurants, mostly shut when I was there.

Excellent relaxing break with the family
Feb 2020
The hotel is great - staff helpful - we were in the 'Hip Zone' and it was just what we were after. Room was big and very clean. The whole place is laid back. Beach is great, especially the bit constantly tended by the hotel. Beach bars are good/bohemian. We didn't think that the number of boats/watersports etc. were excessive. Thanks Sai Kaew for a great four days and nights.

Polluted, loud, dirty
Feb 2020
The Sai Kaew beach and the small town behind it, are unfortunately best examples what happens to tropical paradises if low class mass tourism and uneducated local greed for money are mixed together.
The result is a dirty, stinking, polluted, loud and destroyed place you don‘t want to spend your hard-earned holiday money.
Even more ridiculous is, that the place is defined as so called National Park and a corresponding entry fee has to be paid...

Although this is the main beach it was very quiet when we visited but apparently can get busy at a weekend. Restaurant's line the beach front which come alive at night. Very clean beach and the sand is so white and powder fine.

The longest beach on this Island
Jan 2020
Beautiful beach. Pay baht 200 pr person when arrival. Nice sand, but some plastic. When you pay to get on land, they should also send out people to clean. We, and some other tourists picked up much, but still, much can be done by the restaurants and local tourist office.
Beware jellyfish . We saw one “ Pourtogise war ship” .
But nice holidays and nice beach.

Beautiful beach close to everything, but busy
Jan 2020
If you are going for quiet and secluded, Sai Kaew Beach is not the place. It is the most busy beach on Ko Samet. Many day tourist arrive via speedboats that take up a large part of the water and the beach and make a lot of noise. Still ... it IS a lovely place, and if you enjoy looking at people and to have a large variety of restaurants and bars, it is not a bad place to start on Ko Samet. We stayed in Sai Kaew Beach Resort that faces both this beach and a small secluded (private) beach between the cliffs and though we spent most time at the secluded beach, we enjoyed the sunrise at Sai Kaew and the entertainment in the evening with fire shows and music. It is convenient to be within walking distance of everything and you can rent a scooter for 300 baht per day and drive the short distance to a variety of quieter beaches on the island. If I go to Ko Samet again I think I would probably stay at Sai Kaew Beach again.

Sai Kaew Beach
Jan 2020 • Couples
A very popular and clean beach. It seems to be a popular spot in Koh Samet this time of year.

There were plenty of excursions, shops and restaurants on this stretch of the island. Never a dull moment on this beach, especially with the nightly fire show.

Walking on this beach in the day time I thought I was in Blackpool, flamingo inflatables everywhere, jetski, paragliding, boats, strong smell of petrol (you can see the oil in the sea) hundreds of tourists everywhere.. it was carnage.
I would recommend getting a motorbike and exploring the many other gorgeous untouched beaches this island has to offer

Jan 2020
It was heart breaking to return to Sai Kaew beach after just 4 years to see it overwhelmed by day trippers to such an extent you could not even walk along the beach. Don't go its been destroyed.
