I would say this is best thing to visit in Ratnagiri where you can find lot of species of underwater lives like sea horse, lion fish, butterfly fish, rose head fish, piranha, giant size turtle, skeleton of blue whale ( 52 feet long).

Apart from this, you will also find preserved fossils of many sea animals and varieties of sea shell.

They charge you only Rs 15 for this and Rs 20 for camera. It is a must visit place.

This place is near Pandra samudra (white sea, a white sand beach) Auto rickshaw will charge you 40/- rupees from Ratnagiri ST Stand.
Museum is small but good to visit. 15/- rupees entry fees per person. You can spend around 1 hour. Museum attraction is a huge green turtle. A whale skeleton. Few preservated fishes condition is not so good. But I will say good try by somebody, but not maintained by non willing people. God save this country.

Firstly let me confess that I am an avid fish keeper so my expectations were pretty high before visiting the so called museum.
Let me jot down my observations
1. The place is not as the name suggests. It's an aquatic park with more of fresh water & less of marine species.
2. The tanks are too small.
3. The tanks are filled with plastic toys, plants & artificially colored corals.

It's a perfect example of the sad state of affairs of our Marine & Fisheries ministry & the authorities involved. With abundant marine & bio-diversity the museum keeps fresh water fishes instead of marine species. Moreover the tanks are small. Most dissapointing aspect is the state which giant turtles are kept in an dismal enclosure. This is abject negligence & ignorance of the authorities. A place like this should have been an example to our present & future generations of the rich natural resources around our nation.

We visited the Acquarium which has a good collection of small colorful fishes and other animals. There is a skeleton of a whale which was washed ashore there a few years back. Although some parts of the skeleton are missing, whatever is there can give you an awesome feel of the animal. Part of the complex has some fishes preserved for display. Good palce for families with kids and also for students.

At first when our driver took us to this place we said no before even entering inside but on his insists we went inside and it was worth visiting. The aquariums are very very well maintained and clean. We witnessed so many different beautiful species of fishes which we have never seen before. We saw a sea horse, Nemo fish from movie Finding Nemo, Turtles, and many more. It was worth a experience to visit. I will recommend this to everyone. There is also a very large carcass of Whale fish. The second part of museum is preserved dead species including a dolphin and sea shells which i skipped as i can't see such things but if you are comfortable then check this out as well.

This place houses an aquarium and a museum. The aquarium is worth a visit. It has a small but impressive collection of rare fish, which you may not get to see anywhere else.
