Don’t go alone...too quiet.
Feb 2019 • Solo
Go with friends and ride the boat, walk the streets, and grab a bite. But don’t go alone because it’s too quiet on the streets.

The stone pathway is good to walk on and there are many small statues depicting traditional Chinese activities otherwise their are limited things to see.

Good food and some nice shops.

This is adjacent to the Peach park and has interesting stands and resteraunts. It is worth a hour or two to see what the Chinese locals do for holiday or day out with family. The photos are from Old Street on Lantern Festival eve( first full moon after Chinese New Year).

Morning stroll down Taizhou Old Street
Dec 2017 • Solo
It is a nice place to get some photos and have some good food. There are vendors selling trinkets and locally made items.
Near old moat that surrounded Taizhou (most ancient in China according to the information billboard on site) it is very scenic and much can be accessed without paying a fee.

Small Old Street
Apr 2017 • Solo
The old street in Taizhou is small in comparison with other places I've been, but it is still very tranquil. It is a great place to visit if you already visiting the other tourist attractions in the area as it is close to everything.

Nice but not much happening
Oct 2016 • Friends
It is a beautiful old street especially at night, with lots of red lanterns. The stone pathway is lovely and there are many small statues depicting traditional Chinese activities, but there is not much happening otherwise. Most of the street is restaurants and relatively few shops or street vendors. Of the many Chinese "old streets" I've seen, this ranks low on my list of them. Good for an hour, not much more.

Nice place to visit in Taizhou. Shops and restaurants everywhere and some of them are famous locally. Prices are a bit higher there but nothing drastic. Quality of food is ok and taste..well, it depends on your personal preferences. It looks nice, good spot for pics and.. it looks better over night on pics and videos. If you are visiting Taizhou old street will be first location that locals will take you to visit. I could recommend several parks that are "musts" to see as soon as I find out their names.
Anyways, walk around, take photos and videos and avoid stinky tofu sellers, it realy stinks.

Very popular day or night with locals, tourist Chinese, and foreigners.

Firstly, if you intend dining here go with a Mandarin speaker or only choose restaurants with picture menus, as none of the restaurant staff in any restaurant will speak any English. The food is very good indeed at any of the many restaurants, big or small, along Old Street. Crayfish season runs from May through to September, these are steamed with soy sauce and chilli glaze, and they are great. I have seen the waters where the crays, shrimp and freshwater crab are farmed locally and can say that these farms are perfectly clean. Cleanliness also extends to the Old Street restaurants and their staff, no China horror stories to mention here. Old Street itself is a cobbled pedestrian area, the architecture is reminiscent of a re-imagined Orient, of a few centuries back, and is next to pleasant park and lake. Through the day and early evening street vendors can be found on Old Street, selling various candies (chachatan is a toffee sweet sold here, see pic), toys, large inflatable balloon hammers which the tourists don't seem to get bored of, and handicrafts such as paper sculpture and dough sculpture.
Note: it is uncommon in restaurants here for bottled beer to be served cold. This is disappointing but may change.
