Day tour around Taizhou Taishan Park was the best sightseeing adventure in a long time. Locals playing cards, singing, practicing tai chi, dancing, kites, temples, endless games and paths to no where. It is a hidden treasure.

An interesting temple visited on a very rainy afternoon.
There seems to be lots of building & renovation work going on, so it could be a spot best left for another occasion.

I stumbled onto this temple some years back when I was searching for another place and the taxi driver took me here instead. This is an amazing temple. It might not be as grand as some or as written about but this temple is powerful. A lovely collection of buildings with Buddhas, this always inspires me and makes me grateful for my life. The roof details are amazing and the main large golden Buddhas are beautiful. The compound is larger than it appears, so be sure to wander around to find new spots. To participate, buy incense at the gate when you come in. You light it in the fire hutches and place them in the sand incense burning section. Put them in groups of threes to pay homage to what you hold dear. This is one of my favorite places in Guangzhou. Don't miss the vegetarian restaurant to the left of main temple entrance. It is about three businesses down in a hotel. Yummy!
