On our way from Peponi Beach Resort to the Fish Eagle Point, we visited these caves. Entrance is good to find but entrance road can be difficult when wet.
I found the prices steep for what was on offer and didn’t like the guide asking for extra money when leaving: I mean we already paid for the entrance and I think this was more than enough for this trip.

8 kilometers outside of Tanga in Mombasa road you turn left and again after some kilometers you will reach to Amboni caves one of the most attractive and mysterious caves in Africa. there is many stories about this cave between locals same as living of many ghosts inside cave or the point that other end of cave is in mount Kilimanjaro and etc. you can't go inside by yourself and just should accompany the guides.inside cave is not any electric light and you can use just yours or your guide torch and there is one story about this item to that tell they installed 5 times electric lights inside cave and all times ghosts destroyed that. inside you will see very beautiful scenery and be careful because is full of bats but they really don't disturb you.finally here is very beautiful attraction and is 100% recommended.

Extremely delighted that I went there. Difficult to explain the sheer thrill of walking in the bowels of the earth between stalactites and stalagmites!

They keep a live monkey tied to a stick for entertainment at the visitor gate. Animal cruelty from the middle ages, despicable.

The caves, which can be reached in about 20 minutes by tuktuk from Tanga center, are a beautiful place to go.

Even though the whole tour through two of the caves only took a little over an hour, it was a nice experience. The shapes and surprisingly big halls formed by the ocean millions of years ago impressed us a lot. In addition the guide tells some interesting stories and tales around this place.

We went with Zero, a super friendly and great guide. The entrance is 20,000TSH per person, even though as students, we only paid 10,000TSH each. Plus the tip for the guide and 16,000TSH for both ways, we spend less than 50,000 (~ 22$) for a nice afternoon. Recommendable!

I was surprised to see a shape of a Lizard inside the cave. God is wonderful. I urge people to visit the caves to witness this.

I've been to a few caves in different countries and this was probably the best one.
I paid 13 dollar which might be a bit overpriced but it's worth it. The guide was very cool, fun, informative and thoughtful.
The caves are gorgeous. In some parts there are holes inside so some natural light comes in and it looks beautiful. There are also roots coming down several meters from the top. There are many bugs and bats too, which is creepy but interesting.

If you are in Tanga definitely don't miss going in those caves. I had a young very friendly guide with good knowledge and fluent English. The price is fair. As everywhere in Tanzania residents get a cheaper price. The tour takes approx. One hour. Don't do the caves on your own, you might not get out again. You can also book a guided ride with a bicycle. Ask for information one you're there.

My friends and I enjoyed exploring these caves, our guide was very knowledgeable and it was great fun paddling through the passages, crawling through tight tunnels and up and down rock falls. Well worth a visit and very cheap
