I drove from Virginia to Bellingham to get on the ferry to Ketchikan. After paying close to 4000 I found out that the boat I was transporting was not going to be allowed on the ferry from Ketchikan to Hollis. I purchased property on POW and was taking my Jeep and boat to leave. There was no notification on any websites that trailers would not be allowed on the ferry, I had already paid the fare for both ferries and was halfway to Bellingham. Because of this I had to find a place to store my boat in Ketchikan at 100.00 a month fee. I had not intended to return until next year. Now I have to pay storage fees. If I had known this I would not have made the trip in October. This was a costly trip that is continuing to cost me. If the ferry system had posted this information it would have been extremely helpful and I don’t understand in this day and time why it wasn’t. Many people on the Bellingham ferry had no idea either.

We left on time from Ketchikan and arrived on time at Hollis. TI made reservation by phone and should have paid by phone to avoid the hassle of paying in person at the dock. There were hardly anyone on board so we were able to sit in the front and saw birds and a group of fins, possibly dolphins, during the 3 hr ride. We took our car, loading and unloading were easy. The ride was smooth, sea was like glass.

Upon arriving with my vehicle to take on the trip I was greeted by friendly staff as I checked in and was given instruction as to where to park for boarding. One staff member who was walking and checking was her typical unhappy self. I have witnessed her being unfriendly on several occasions. The upon trying to leave the ferry with my vehicle back in the Hollis port that evening I was approached by yet another unfriendly staff member. I have witnessed him being unhappy and unfriendly as well on other occasions. He was rude and instead of approaching with a customer service attitude he was glaring and demeaning. The other staff was friendly and approachable as should be expected. For the cost of travel I appreciate and expect more from the two that can make the experience undesirable.

As always, the staff is very professional and accommodating, and always answer any questions with a smiling demeanor. It is such a beautiful trip between POW and Ketchikan. It’s really a million dollar experience I feel for paying so little. I have utilized many fairies in the past in Alaska, and have used Inter Island Ferry more than a dozen times and I have never been let down. They are always on time or early, which means a lot when you’re booking the rest of your trip, utilizing planes, trains, and automobiles so to speak, Thanks again for another wonderful trip.

Due to COVID our flight changed several times. The InterIsland Ferry Company worked with the changes with no problem. Their flexibility was great. The team members are always friendly and the ship is always clean.

After traveling on it for years, we have always enjoyed the Inter-island Ferry trip. It’s a beautiful trip and the staff is always very nice.

We enjoy eating in the galley, the food is always great. However, we did have an issue/complaint on the trip we just took - the boat was full and it was difficult to be able to find a seat in the dining area because so many people took a table and just stayed there the entire trip, even though they weren’t eating. On the trip over to POW Island, they finally made an announcement asking people if they were done eating to give their tables to those who were waiting, so we were able to get a table. On the way back to Ketchikan, however, we tried at least three times to find a table, but a lot of them were occupied by people stretched out sleeping on the seats! No announcement was made asking people to move, so we were unable to eat, since food is not allowed in the seating lounge. We couldn’t eat, and the restaurant lost out on the money we would have paid for our meals. I hope they will try harder t enforce their own rules going forward.

We weren’t too sure about taking a Ferry from Prince of Wales island to Ketchikan, so are super happy we did it. It was a relaxing trip that providing food options, along with spectacular views and whales!! Dozens and dozens of whales. Of course they were just waiting for a sea lion snack to fall off their little rock, but it was really awesome!

Ferry is clean and runs on time. If you are hauling fish boxes it's a mess. They make everyone drag all their fish boxes and luggage through the terminal in Hollis with little or no carts. They need a fish box check-in station outside where you pull up. Would save a lot of time and frustration for all passengers. Power outlets in the seats would be good too.

We enjoyed our ferry ride from Ketchikan to Hollis. What a beautiful place Prince of Wales Island is! The service on the ferry was great. Our only complaint was seeing numerous people laying down in the booths in the cafeteria, thus preventing some passengers from dining. Passengers who need to sleep should be told to do it elsewhere on the ferry. Aside from that, the scenery was fabulous and the experience was very good overall.
