The IFA ferry service between Ketchikan-Hollis (Price of Wales) was a highlight of the trip. We booked tickets in advance on line, so when we got there you just have to get your paper tickets. The main waiting area was not open to the public on Ketchikan side due to COVID closure, so you had to knock on door to get your ticket. The POW waiting area is open though. You drop your bags onto a luggage cart once they take your ticket and you pick up from same cart once you debark.
Once on the ferry we headed straight for the dining area to get some food. This was a good place for larger groups with kids as they have booth type seating. Food, coffee (unlimited refills!) was great!! Once we ate we moved to a quieter part of the ferry (the front sitting area). You can also go outside to the back of the ferry and sit. The water is calm and the ferry goes slow...trip is 3 hours...very relaxing. Beautiful water, scenery, saw some whales. Crew was very safe and attentive. Restrooms very clean, We had ATT phone coverage most of the way so it was fun to watch our route on google maps! Cost was roughly $48/person each way.

After traveling on it for years, we have always enjoyed the Inter-island Ferry trip. It’s a beautiful trip and the staff is always very nice.

We enjoy eating in the galley, the food is always great. However, we did have an issue/complaint on the trip we just took - the boat was full and it was difficult to be able to find a seat in the dining area because so many people took a table and just stayed there the entire trip, even though they weren’t eating. On the trip over to POW Island, they finally made an announcement asking people if they were done eating to give their tables to those who were waiting, so we were able to get a table. On the way back to Ketchikan, however, we tried at least three times to find a table, but a lot of them were occupied by people stretched out sleeping on the seats! No announcement was made asking people to move, so we were unable to eat, since food is not allowed in the seating lounge. We couldn’t eat, and the restaurant lost out on the money we would have paid for our meals. I hope they will try harder t enforce their own rules going forward.

We left on time from Ketchikan and arrived on time at Hollis. TI made reservation by phone and should have paid by phone to avoid the hassle of paying in person at the dock. There were hardly anyone on board so we were able to sit in the front and saw birds and a group of fins, possibly dolphins, during the 3 hr ride. We took our car, loading and unloading were easy. The ride was smooth, sea was like glass.

I enjoyed my first trip on a ferry! I surprised my boyfriend for new years I traveled from KTN airport on their little airport ferry ($6 fee) walked maybe 7-8 minutes to the ferry terminal and the ladies at the front counter were very sweet. The ferry it's self was clean and comfy, my advice would be to bring cash! The food options were looking so yummy, but unfortunately their card machine was down. I was traveling the 3:30pm ferry and arrived in Hollis early at 6:15pm. It was dark by the time we got into Hollis so there wasn't much sight seeing. The Prince of Wales Island is beautiful though! Once in the daylight it will take your breath away!

The Ferry has comfortable seating and a nice cafeteria were you can get a good meal for a reasonable price. Even on days when the weather is not the best the ferry ride is pleasant. A luggage cart takes your belongings on and off the ferry for you and your belongings are safe and secure during the duration of the trip. No luggage weight restrictions like you have to deal with if you fly to and from the Island from Ketchikan. A great way to get to and from POW!

We weren’t too sure about taking a Ferry from Prince of Wales island to Ketchikan, so are super happy we did it. It was a relaxing trip that providing food options, along with spectacular views and whales!! Dozens and dozens of whales. Of course they were just waiting for a sea lion snack to fall off their little rock, but it was really awesome!

Due to COVID our flight changed several times. The InterIsland Ferry Company worked with the changes with no problem. Their flexibility was great. The team members are always friendly and the ship is always clean.

Favorite parts...the friendly, kind folks working for IFA whether clerks in office or boat crew. The mocha milkshakes are to die for. Clean, comfy seats and areas. The functioning elevator because sometimes I cannot do stairs. I am usually very anxious when traveling by myself, I was this time for sure but felt so much more calm with the humor and short chats with Joe C and Arthur M, Kristi, Beth and Shianne. Lots of good folks! Thanks for a good, clean, safe ride.

Professional, polite crew and best of all, on time 99% of the time unless weather interferes. Vessel is always clean, car deck crew experienced, snack bar food is often homemade. Can't beat a three hour tour on the Inter-Island Ferry System!

The staff was outstanding. The food was cooked to order and delicious! I will definitely use this service anytime I travel to POW Island. So calm and peaceful with outstanding views. The trip was 3 hours but it seemed much shorter because of all the things to eat and the interactions with my fellow passengers. Alaska is the best state!
