This is a wonderful swimming beach; peaceful waters in radiant blue. The view from the water of lush El Yunque can't be beat. Weekends brings many families and children...a low key party atmosphere, weekdays very tranquil. Parking in the official lot is $4. There are basic kiosks for drinks and food. The "famous" food kiosks and restaurants at the top of the beach offer traditional Puerto Rican food, ceviche etc. The larger restaurants are expensive.

Luquillo is one of the most beautiful natural beaches on the island. Sadly, the hurricanes
That have come thru and lack of funds for repair has left the beaches man-made structures in ruin. Don’t let that deter you from the transparent warm waters and powdery sand! From el banners de Luquillo if you’re an adventurer,
You can walk all the way to Playa Azul and enjoy the waves and even watch some surfers at “La Pared”. Just make sure before you trek to check the high tide.
I don’t recommend walking it in high tide and definitely not at night. Very dangerous.

I took our family and we had a wonderful time with very little planning!

Remember, if you don’t live here there are holidays where the parking and access via vehicles is closed (ex. New Years Day)

Came here with the family on the penultimate day of our vacation which happened to be a Saturday. A couple of folks recommended that we access and enjoy the beach by the La Parilla food kiosk. However, we decided to park in the large parking lot which cost a whopping $2 or $3. Our reason for parking here was that we wanted to be a little farther away from the bustling food kiosks. The walkway to the beach from the lot was paved with beautiful palm trees and it was large open park-type space. Although it was a Saturday, the beach was far from crowded and was a perfect blend of locals and tourists. The sand was perfect and clean the water was free of seaweed and super calm. They had lifeguards on duty but the beach waves were non-existent. A couple of ice cream carts kept kids happy and the food stand was inexpensive and tasty. We didn’t need to use the bathroom or showers but I understand that they require a modest fee to use (a buck or so). Chair rentals were available for a modest fee as well. They had a volleyball net but you might need to bring ur own ball. Another thing my wife noticed is that we went to four different beaches during our one-week stay and not once did we encounter annoying vendors on the beach (i.e., no hair braiding). It was peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed this beach a ton. We even saw some turtles come up for air in the distance. It is a great spot for a family beach day.

The beach, facing north and then curving up to face west, are protected from February's prevailing NE wave and wind energy, so the water is uncommonly flat. If you walk further north (right) away from the parking and facilities you'll find a more peaceful and less-trafficked experience.
We arrived on a Tuesday in early February, unaware the main parking area was closed, which is clearly described in google if one looks. There were a couple of fellows collecting $5 to park in the driveway area in front of the gated parking lot. I don't know whether they're official in any way, but they did seem to secure the area and were very friendly so we paid them, as did everyone else we saw as we unloaded our stuff, and then later when we reloaded.
The north end of this little peninsula is protected by a reef, visible from the overhead photo views in map apps, which had me excited for the snorkeling. Sadly, it's a big sand shoal covered with grass, and some parts are really shallow. There were very few fish. I saw a turtle, a small barracuda, and a big crab all crusted with barnacles.
There was a free shower near the main purple gates with the unofficial parking.

This beach is beautiful, wide, clean, calm and great for swimming. There are palm trees for shade and plenty of space to walk down and have a private spot (we visited on a weekday in March). One thing I was confused about when reading reviews is that some people mentioned there being a lot of garbage. To be clear, this part of the beach (Montserrat Luquillo) is managed by PR department of natural resources. It is well maintained and free of garbage (from our experience). If you walk to the left toward the kiosks, the maintained part of the beach ends at Luquillo Beach (directly across from the kiosks) which does have garbage. Just stick to the maintained part for an ideal beach day!

Start your day with some beautiful beach play! Paid $4.00 USD to park then $25.00 for a beach umbrella and two layout chairs. Totally worth the money and plenty of $7 piña colada options at the snack bar. Get there before 11am to land the best spots. Will come back many more times. 🏝🇵🇷

Luquillo beach a.k.a. La Monserrate beach is a popular beach. It is next to the famous Luquillo Kioskos. Plenty of parking; parking lot for a fee or free parking on the side streets by the Kioskos. Bathroom facilities for a fee, chairs and umbrellas for rent, lifeguards onsite, souvenir stalls, food vendors are some of the amenities. There’s also jet skis, kayaks, stand up paddles for rent and also also saw horseback riding. Luquillo Beach is a lively and busy beach especially on the weekends. We saw much litter around. Please take your garbage with you when you leave. We walked to Luquillo beach several times from Playa Azul where we stayed. The Punta Embarcadero is the point where Luquillo beach leads to other beaches such as Punta Bandera, Playa Azul, La Pared (surfer’s favorite). The Punta Embarcadero is a nice spot for a dip...you can feel the 2 currents. It’s also a great photo op of Luquillo Beach with the El Yunque National Forest in the background

Stayed at a condo on Playa Azul, just east of Luquillo. We were at the kiosks at Luquillo Beach on 3 different occasions. Great food and drinks, authentic Puerto Rican cuisine, great people watching sitting at the open air kiosks sipping Pinas. The beaches are so much better in Puerto Rico than Florida - beautiful sand, no seaweed,
no jellyfish,

Beautiful beach, reminds me of Isla Verde. Calm, turquoise, murky water with sandy beach. Not good for snorkeling. Food/drink stand (no prices listed as usual) and relaxing atmosphere. Lots of tourists and locals. People could do better with cleaning up after themselves. Bathrooms were locked when I was there (not sure if it's related to COVID), but it was later in the day like 4pm. Huge free parking lot. Lot os space unuse and over grown. Beautiful sunset that is picture worthy. I'd recommend.
