Myself and my family did a full day with Dennis and his crew in mid February. Dennis picked us up from our rental property and took us to his boat where his crew was waiting on time. It was easily the highlight of our trip, and would highly recommend it to anyone staying in Treasure beach, or anywhere in the close area. Dennis has been doing this for over two decades, and truly cares about his clients, and the community around him. They've perfected everything, and can cater to whatever it is you need. By the end of the day, my family had felt we had made friends, and he helped us throughout the rest of our stay. The trip to Black River, and Rudy's was a great departure. You get to go up river, past the normal boat tours, and then use a rope swing at a local bar. From there you're taken to the Pelican bar, which although a bit touristy is an experience if unique. You can stay as long as you'd like, and get some snacks / drinks while meeting the others who have ventured. After the Pelican bar, you're taken to a calm slice of private beach where you can walk miles alone amongst the beautiful landscape. All the while, Dennis and his crew has been making you lunch so you can eat his delicious food whenever you please. Dennis doesn't work for one of the hotels or any particular villa, so his service is based on the customers - and you can really tell that. I hope to return and see him again one day. Reach out to Dennis via email, he will respond promptly and help set up any of your needs.

As a solo female traveler, I am always looking for fun and safe activities and Captain Dennis and Sherwayne's trip definitely fits the bill! Sherwayne was my captain, and even though the waters were super super rough when we went out, I felt very safe. I could tell that he knew how to handle the ocean even on days when it's not perfectly flat. The boat ride was bumpy but I didn't ever feel unsafe! Dennis and his whole team took care of me and showed me a cool side of Treasure Beach I wouldn't have seen on my own — I highly recommend this tour!

Captain Dennis was charming and informative. We had a group of 10. Dennis and his crew served a great, rustic meal on the private beach. He accomodated one vegetarian and one - no shell fish - family members. We highly recommend him to all Treasure Beach visitors. He was on-time and delivered what he said he would. Dennis is the real deal. A long time resident of the area and the cays, he knows a lot about Treasure Beach.

This was our fourth trip out with Dennis, who we now consider to be family. An amazing trip up the Black River followed by the most amazing lunch (the crab!) at Dennis's spot. Not only is Dennis an amazing chef, he's also an incredible captain managing some 10ft waves back into Calabash Bay. Did I mention he also taught me how to dance to reggae? Highly Recommended. One Love.

First off, Captain Dennis is one of the most lovely people you will ever meet and a master of the sea. You will be in expert hands with Dennis and his crew.
We have done four trips with Dennis...all of them unforgettable.
From Frenchman's Bay in Treasure Beach you head 12 miles along the coast to the town of Black River, then up the mangrove tree and crocodile lined river to the amazing Rudy's bar for some swimming and Red Stripes. On the way back down river you can stop at Sister Lou's for another Red Stripe and some of her amazing crab. Back in the sea you have to stop at the Pelican Bar to hang out with the rastas and have more Red Stripes of course.
You can also book one of Dennis's incredible beach cookouts at his private beach. An amazing meal of crab, grilled lobster, creole lobster, rice & peas, fresh pineapple cole slaw and all of the rum drinks and Red Stripes you want. Dennis and his crew create one of the best meals you will have...ever.
This is something to not just think about...you just need to do it. It will be unforgettable.

Can’t say enough good things about our boat trips (2) with Captain Dennis and First Mate Dante. We first went out the day after we arrived in Treasure Beach, and I must admit the seas and wind seemed high and I was considering canceling but thankfully we entrusted these two men to show us all of what Treasure Beach has to offer. We went to Pelican Bar first, then on to Captain Dennis’ private beach for fresh cooked lunch and plenty of drinks. On the way from Pelican Bar to the private beach Dante eyed the biggest family of dolphins we’d ever seen and we floated along with them for what seemed like an hour. It was pure magic. We had such a lovely time we booked another trip a few days later. These guys made our trip so special, we will forever be indebted for their kindness.

Captain Dennis and his crew made our day perfect. There customer service was excellent. The tour of the St. Elizabeth coastline was beyond our expectations and topped off by an amazing lunch that was prepared by the Captain and his team. We highly recommend that you check him out if you happen to be vacationing nearby.

Captain Dennis took this energetic group of 22 women out to the Pelican Bar and then to a private beach for a picnic. The food that was prepared by his group was the absolute BEST food we had during our 5 days in Jamaica. We ladies had the absolute best time of our trip on this day. I’m pretty sure his group will never forget us. Do yourself a favor and enjoy his incredible hospitality and delicious food. The beauty of Jamaica from the water.

Captain Dennis (aka Shabba) is a caring, warm host. He excels as a guide of his beloved Treasure Beach - best tour guide I have ever hired. Very professional, made sure our day was fantastic. My friend and I took his tour of the Black River, followed by a visit to the Pelican Bar, and a visit to a private, water access beach where he and his team served a lovely lunch of crab and lobster. On our adventure, we saw several crocs, dolphins, beautiful birds. The day was the highlight of our visit to Treasure Beach (a beautiful part of Jamaica, btw). He is an experienced seaman. We felt very safe, even with some big swells on our way back to our hotel. I would highly recommend this tour.
Amazing day! "The Word Is Love". Thank you Captain Dennis

Captain Dennis and his crew provided nothing short of an excellent experience for our family of seven. They picked us up at a spot in Treasure Beach, took us on a tour to Floyd's Pelican Bar and then to a beautiful private beach for an afternoon of fun and delicious seafood (prepared by Captain himself). We had a great time riding on the gorgeous Caribbean Sea and even saw a pod of dolphins! Captain Dennis and his crew were kind, careful and very attentive attentive to us. We admired their warmth, hospitality, cleanliness and appreciation for the environment. We loved every minute of this outstanding adventure and we can't wait to do it again soon!!

Can u say if tour is accessible for someone with limited mobility
LuMePa2015

During our tour, there was one person we picked up with limited mobility and it took a couple people to help him into the boat. It was definitely doable but not easy.
Are there people traveling with you who can help him/her get into and out of the boat?

The Black River/Pelican Bar trip is about 4hrs.
The Pelican Bar alone most time persons stay for around 2hrs.
The Private Beach Lunch is about 5hrs .Pelican Bar also included.I do not rush my guest so time will vary.

What times are the tours?

It depends on what time you want to go and on the weather. We spoke to Capt the day before and he recommended we go early because there was rain forecast for the afternoon (not so nice to be on an open boat during a Caribbean downpour). We had to have our beers a little bit earlier than usual (twist my arm) and then had lunch afterwards on the beach.
Is this anywhere near montego Bay?

Don,
I am afraid that I don't know anything about destination resorts like Sandals. But if you contact Captain Dennis' Tours they can give you info, I'm sure. Treasure Beach is a bit far from Sandals White House, BTW. All best. KW

Connie B's reply is on the money. St. Elizabeth is so laid back even tropical fish don't hang out there.
