About
Fort Berens Estate Winery is a culmination of the dreams, vision and pioneering spirit of several entrepreneurs. It was founded with a pioneering spirit and forged on the road less traveled. The winery is owned by a team of eight individuals who share a common belief in the incredible winemaking potential of British Columbia’s Fraser Canyon and a shared vision to make Fort Berens into one of Canada’s leading producers of fine wine.

I know this place has had a hard time finding chefs and I am.local so will not declared what we are or they will figure me out . We had 4 different items from the menu and they were all dry, poorly presented and overly priced . Not what you would expect from a winery . Garbage good like the rest of the restaurants in Lillooet . They really should just stick to wine until they find a chef . We have a beautiful bakery in town how hard is it to get some of their beautiful bread with some nice cheese and salami of good quality to serve that would be relative to the price . Maybe go with tapas instead of meals until you find someone who can cook gourmet to meet your gourmet prices . Sorry but have had way better food at half the price . Back to the drawing board cause i guarantee they will not get return customers

We were there on a Saturday, it wasn't busy, we had reservations for lunch, disappointed to have to sit outside, we had to move our table out into the sunshine for a bit of warmth. The staff inside in the tasting area totally ignored us. The servers at lunch were good, but the food was terrible, 3 had onion soup that was very watery, tasteless and not hot, my wife had the chicken that was described as "fall of the bone" and it was anything but, so tough she couldn't eat it, I had the charcuterie and it was dried out meat and cheese ($28, way overpriced), not a good experience. We bought 2 bottles of wine with our lunch and there was not a word to us to explain or promote the winery.

Stopped here for lunch on the patio. We were placed in the tables that felt like we were sitting in the parking lot. Took sometime before we were even helped acknowledged . The food was mediocre. Lovely location, was hoping to have a better experience.

Thoroughly enjoyed our third visit here, this time enjoying a delicious lunch on the patio followed by wine tastings. The food was excellent (enjoyed the roasted chicken and charcuterie platter) and left with a few bottles of our favourite wines. Worth a stop at this picturesque winery nestled in the Fraser Canyon.

Brett absolutely made our experience and he provided us with the contact info for a private campground so we had a place to stay. He was so informative and lovely to deal with that he made our birthday experience extra special and Amber who was our server was fantastic and sweet. We are grateful for our experience at Fort Berens and couldn’t recommend it enough.

I’m not a wine drinker but my friends love the tasting. The lady hosting was friendly and knowledgeable. Great cookbooks and other wine related goods. The views are spectacular. Love the idea of maybe having a restaurant built on the roof. Views would be breathtaking and people would visit from around the world when we return to normal.

After a so-so lunch experience at The Kitchen that was rescued by Brook, we decided upon her suggestion to do a wine tasting.
Good selection of wines, even though they were out of the rosé & PTG. May have to come back & try those when in stock.
Sampled 6 wines & ended up buying a bottle of the Cab Franc to take home on the motorcycle.
Tasting was free w/ purchase.

We stopped at this winery on Aug 11 on our way north. The wines were excellent and we bought two. The ladies inside were great. We also had dinner on the patio and our Bernese Mtn dog was welcomed. Our compliments to the chef. The meal was excellent and the service was great. He was very professional as well as friendly. The view was also great. We were very pleased with our experience there and will stop again when we are in the area.

On the advice of friends we drove from Whistler to Fort Berens in Lillooet with fairly low expectations as one might not expect a winery in that part of BC . Travelling time was a over two hours as the traffic is slow near Joffre lakes .
The Estate is located just outside Lillooet on the road to Cache Creek . There is a winery , tasting area and covered terrace where lunch and dinner are served .
The set up is very modern and friendly . We tasted most of the wines and had lunch which was very nice with fresh local produce and their own wine .
Five persons , one bottle of wine , some soft drinks etc . around 200 CAD including tip , tax etc
After lunch we bought a mixed case of their white wines around 220 CAD including tax.
Fort Berens is well worth the visit but the restaurant area is quite small and you need to book ahead .

Lillooet is out of the way, to be sure, but to cap the beautiful drive in the area with a visit to this winery is a treat. We had lunch on the outdoor patio (shaded from the sun, happily) on Canada Day afternoon. A 3oz pour for each of us (a good rosé for me, a fantastic Cabernet Franc for my husband) - we wish we had a driver so that we could have tasted and enjoyed more!

The scenery from the winery is stunning. Vineyards below, mountains surrounding. It's a handsome sight.

As for the food, the lunch offerings were surprisingly refined (a bison tongue salad as a special, for example). We opted for light fare, though, and had a good salad with a Saskatoon berry dressing (not heavy and syrupy at all) and a charcuterie platter that included a rabbit terrine made from locally raised rabbits. Our server, Jarett, was knowledgeable and charming. Though it was a too-brief lunch for us, we felt very well taken care of. We'd wager that the meal is probably some of the best food to be had in the BC interior.

We had enjoyed Fort Berens wines for a few years now when we found them in stores in Vancouver. Now we know we need to come back for a better visit to the winery, and bring friends along if we can!
