17th-century castle owned by the same family for over 350 years. Open April to September; access is by guided tours only. There are steep spiral stairs to the upper floors. A stunning castle in a wonderful setting, said to be the inspiration for Disney's castles.

In the words of our 6year old great niece," look at Cinderella's castle". We spent a lovely afternoon looking around but sadly later discovered that like the fairy tale of Cinderella so was some of the tale told by our guide.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Craigievar Castle. It was quite the trek to the top, but the views are definitely worth it. Our 5 & 7 year old boys were entertained throughout the guided tour but it was a bit long winded at times....More

Visited as part of our belated honeymoon. Photography isn't allowed inside unfortunately, but got quite a few outside pictures. History is interesting, no ghosts today!!

It was a slightly damp day that we visited with persistent rain so we did not do one of the walls which was a pity but did not detract from the wonderful castle. The castle is guided tours only but they seemed to be frequent...More

After a drive through the beautiful Aberdeenshire Countryside we reached a hidden treasure set in acres of woodland and hills. This National Trust Site is well worth a visit. We took one of the guided tours (every half an hour) which was very informative and...More

The NTS description says it all, “spellbindingly beautiful and sure to enchant”. It did! Even as you approach you realise that this is a special place. Beautiful inside and out with an excellent guided tour it was well worth the long drive to get there.

Having been taken here when I many times when I was younger, I decided to go back years later. Still full of history and charm. A must visit for any visitor to the area.

I can't imagine you would be able to take a dog into the castle. And I'd bet they have to be on a leash in the grounds. But those are just guesses. Check their website and see what it says.

Unfortunately the castle has quite steep stairs up to several levels and to really appreciate it you need visit all floors. I think your brother would feel left out if all he could do was to view the castle from outside.
