A great way to spend an hour
Feb 2020 • Friends
Visited with a 10 year old. Assistant on desk was most helpful and gave us a trail of objects in museum for 10 year old to find. Great way to spend a wet hour! Thank you to all museum staff and volunteers for being so helpful.

Quaint museum. Easily missed, just a doorway on the high street. Over two floors. Lots to see. Good online library, photos, articles etc. The staff were super, so friendly and helpful.

Charming, a hidden gem
Nov 2019
Have just visited Godalming museum. What a lovely museum, its not big but its packed with very interesting artefacts housed in a charming 15th century property which makes all the more quirky and a real insight into the past. Even the beams have and explanation with letters to identify each one a a good written description. Its free entry but donations are welcome to keep this piece of history alive for the future. There is a small gift area and space for a tea or coffee which the excellent volunteers will make for you. Definately worth a visit.

This is such a gem for the village, wonderful exhibits on local history, very relaxed to wander through. We learned a lot of the town’s history.

A Nice Surprise
Sep 2019 • Couples
Walked through a little doorway and given a very good potted history of the house. To my surprise the outer dacade is based on a 15th century building. It had lots of interesting exhibits and displays. Teas and coffee's are available. The volunteers are very knowledgeable anf friendly. Worth a 2 hour visit. Admission free but a donation is nice. Well worth a visit.

A Must Visit
Oct 2018 • Solo
Godalming Museum is a hidden gem. Find the door and you are on a fascinating journey...
Did you know that Galton and Simpson met at Milford Hospital in their teens?
The museum has permanent displays but their exhibitions are all well curated.
Worth a visit...but make it a couple of hours!

Hidden gem

I visit the Godalming museum occasionally and popped in this week and wasn’t disappointed. The staff are very helpful and lovely and they usually have a local art exhibition which the Compton art group have contributed to this month. It is well worth a visit.

Local history attractively presented
Apr 2019 • Friends
Godalming is an attractive town with plenty of local history and you can see, read and feel all that history in the Godalming Museum. Located at the south end of the HIgh Street, opposite the 'Pepperpot', (the old town hall) it's easy to miss the modest front entrance. But once inside, the museum covers two floors with room for the working mechanism of the old town clock. In addition to the wealth of fascinating facts about Godalming the museum has a programme of changing exhibitions and art shows, There is a small cafe and a charming garden that's great to visit on a warm day. There is no admission charge but donations are very welcome.
