Tucked away down a narrow lane this lovely shop is easily missed but well worth a visit. It stocks a terrific selection of the most beautiful local wools at very reasonable prices. Dawn, the proprietor, is so friendly and helped me choose a selection of colours for my next project. The yarn is lovely I returned the next day for more!

Visiting North Yorkshire with a hubby and a friend this was a must do on the list and it didn’t disappoint. Welcoming atmosphere but left to look around at leisure with offer of help if required. Beautiful locally spun wool and kits. Would highly recommend if looking for natural yarns .

I visited this shop in search of Wensleydale woo. The shop was well stocked with wool and patterns and the assistant was very friendly and knowledgeable about the yarn.

Ordered Wensleydale Longwool DK for a Gansey pattern designed by Martin Storey. Fabulous lady Kath organised everything so meticulously in spite of her busy schedule of shop plus many trade show commitments. Wool, 1kg of fabulous 'Fennel' colour plus other Wensleydale products such as soap, wool wash, lanolin cream etc arrived beautifully and efficiently packaged for the courier delivery. Kath deserves top star rating and a massive thank you. I recommend looking at her wool for any future knitting projects and supporting this wonderful product which also supports the rare breed sheep of Yorkshire. Buy British Wool and support these lovely sheep, from The Northern Isles south together with their guardians for the future.

My wife and I have been coming here for some years. They mainly sell womens knitwear but they have a few mens items as well as rare breed sheepskins and other small gifts such as wool fat soap and various trinkets. They also sell wool and patterns. My wife has bought many items here but I have struggled as they never have anything in my side. I did order something once but had to send it back as it was 2 or 3 sizes too large but my wife has had things made which have been fine.

The wool used is local Wensleydale and the designs of the knitwear are varied and tend to be more colourful than at Swaledale Woollens (Muker).

The prices here for all goods are very reasonable.

There is parking for 3 or 4 cars in the car park and a toilet but you can park on the country lane outside as it is not busy.

Whichever way you come to this place (2 choices) you have to drive a couple of miles along a narrow country lane and it looks as if you are going nowhere but the shop is actually quite easy to find as it is at the first and only crossroads. The lady who runs it is very friendly and is usually there outside of the published opening hours if you call ahead.

A massive thank you to Kath, I had made a mistake on my knitting and she took the time to explain and put right and got me back to having the correct amount of stitches. Nothing is too much trouble well worth a visit to a lovely shop that caters for all needs

This pretty shop is worth visiting whether you are a knitter or not. The rare breed lustrous Wensleydale wool is available both as yarn and as finished handknit garments; and there are lanolin products and sheep themed souvenirs for those who visit out of cultural interest.

My wife and I have been buying knitted goods from the shop when it was run from the owner's house a couple of miles away for some years. The business has new management and has new modern retail premises just off the Market Place in Leyburn - between Serendipity and the Posthorn cafe along the alley way to the car park. The wool and the knitters are the same so a great place to come for all your knitting needs and finished garments. My wife has also bought by mail order when having a garment specially made.

I was on a mission to find sheep's roving for a friend of mine who spins. I wasn't sure what sheep's roving was at first, but I dutifully looked for it and asked at the Dales Countryside Museum in Hawes. They told me of this shop in Leyburn, so I took the short trek to Leyburn.

I was so amazed at all this little shop carried! Beautiful wool, sheep's roving, and wool in just about any stage you wanted it. My friend spun it up and it made the nicest yarn (which she gave me). So, thank you for a wonderful experience! I highly recommend this place to people who spin, knit, crochet, or just enjoy raw textiles and their making.

When away, it's compulsory to visit yarn shops- and this one didn't disappoint. It only sells their own brand- but what a lovely yarn- lovely owner, fab setting and beautifully laid out!!
