The monument recalls the battle of Talavera and is a nice striking piece of architecture. It is located on the A5 as it skirts around Talavera and is at the Segurilla exit.

We stopped here as my significant other had been reading a novel series about the Peninsular wars. It was interesting but poorly kept and the fence around it keeps visitors from adequately looking at all sides.
There was one small sign outlining the importance of this area in the Peninsular Wars.

This is certainly a monument to wonder about. Which perhaps may make people come for a look. It is just of the motorway outside Talavera and recalls the Battle of Talavera 1809 during the Peninsular wars. When Wellingtons small army never lost a battle often against much higher odds.

It's only two or three kilometres from Talavera and it's not hard to find. Take the road north-west out of Talavera towards Segurilla. After two or three kilometres you'll cross the Madrid - Badajoz motorway, From here the monument will be easily visible ahead, on the right. There's a car-park for visitors.
It's a huge white stone tripod, with the names all of the Spanish, Portuguese, British and French regiments that took part in the battle engraved on each of the legs. There's a plan of the battle on a low plinth, showing the positions and movements of the various forces. The monument stands in about the middle of the battlefield.
Not to be missed by anyone interested in the Napoleonic Wars, the Spanish War of Independence, the Duke of Wellington, or military history in general.

Super! I like the city of Talavera. I was on business trip, Successfull trip! Dear people. They have a great cousine. In April, 2017 it was hot! They serve beer in frozen mugs to keep it cold. Humidity inf the air is frozening on cold mug and you get ice skin around. looks fantastic. I had issue with my credit card and they tried to fix the problem. They tried their best but at the end there was "bug in rosebud". There was some telecommunication issue relateed to different provider's protocols. I could not pay my bill. They let me go without paying!. I resolved issue immediately after returning home. I'll be back with different credit card and more time to discover more area history.

Is there a visitor centre, cafeteria etc on site?

Had a great trip, thanks. Just a pity that they make so little of the monument. Didn't even see a signpost for it, only as a picnic area. The monument itself is worth visiting but the surrounding area is a mess. At Los Arapiles there is a visitor centre and museum about the battle at Salamanca. Pity Talavera doesn't do something similar.
