We made a trip with the Supercat about one year ago and had such a good time that we decided to have another go this year. Turns out that they had changed management and/or profile and it was now more of a party boat and not about relaxing and enjoying a day on the ocean. Nothing wrong with that, but don't go on this trip if you want to relax and read a book.

We started out going out on the Atlantic to do some dolphin & whale spotting. We saw dolphins and turtles, which was a really nice experience.

Later we anchored closer to shore and there was time for swimming. You could also ride jet ski, banana boat etc for an extra fee.

We booked an all inclusive tour and were served an OK lunch. Soft drinks, water, beer and sangria were free and plenty during the whole trip. The crew charged a 1€ deposit fee for a reusable plastic cup to be used during the trip, so remember to bring some change.

The crew were nice and at least one of them were fluent in both english, spanish and german.

Try to get a seat close to the gunway or the bow, those are the best seats. Try to stay clear of the mid section, the volume from the sound system is ear blowing.

Overall, a very good experience!

Me and my husband went on the Aphrodite boat trip yesterday, it was amazing so relaxing and Andrea and the crew were brilliant, I stated I couldn’t have garlic as the chicken and steak are cooked in it, and the chef done me a meal and set it aside from the rest and it was beautiful, if we ever come back to the island we definitely go on it again 😍

I booked this trip with my sister on a holiday to celebrate her birthday. I don't really like boats or water and wouldn't normally have even looked at something like this but I'm so glad I did. We booked through our Thomas Cook rep and the price included transfer from our hotel in Meloneras for the same price as it would have been to pay direct at the marina (I checked first). We were picked up promptly by coach with the lady who would be on the sail with us. On arrival I was impressed at the facilities on the boat. I expected some plastic seating in rows on the deck but was met with a choice of sofa type lounger with throw cushions, table and chairs, wooden deckchairs or super comfy sun beds. We went for the latter. The boat is quite small and left the marina at the same time as the supercat. Immediately I thought we had chosen wisely, the supercat was massive with rows of seats, no loungers and no luxury in sight. It was like a mini ferry - ok, but worlds away from the exciting Aphrodite with its majestic sails and wooden construction, a proper sailing boat. I felt completely safe and comfortable with the option to go and lie down in a cabin below if there were any problems which there weren't. The views were beautiful of both the surroundings and the boat itself as we slid through the waters with ease. I quickly forgot any worries I previously had about the up and down motion, it was hardly noticeable and if anything added to the relaxed feel. We were offered a choice of drinks which were brought to us on our beds, along with nibbles like nuts and cheesy biscuits, then later oil and herb drizzled tomatoes and bread. The lady on board who served us also periodically came round and told us what we were sailing past and showed us maps and old photos of the area before they were tourist locations which was very interesting. She spoke in different languages to make sure all the people on board got the same information. In addition to being brought drinks you could go to the bar and have more drinks whenever you wished, both alcoholic and soft drinks. The loos were below deck and I was surprised to find proper flushing toilets and even showers in the cabins. After a few hours of sailing we turned back and moored off the coast between Mogan and Playa Taurito. The food served up was simple but packed with flavour: two types of salad, fresh breads, butterflied barbequed chicken breast, Canarian potatoes and sauces, and strips of fillet steak with peppers and onions cooked in garlic. I can still vividly remember the taste of that steak and would eat it every day if I could, I went back for seconds as did most other people. There was then time for swimming and water sports - which I did not partake in but others did and had a great time. I was pleased that there was no pressure to go in the water or do any sports, we were left to lounge in the sun listening to the relaxing music played on deck with more drinks, heaven. We then sailed back to Puerto Rico with a glass of Cubra Libra rum and coke brought round at the end. It was a wonderful day, about 5 hours on the boat which I thought was just right. We are already planning to go back next year and will definitely do this trip again, I would even do it twice time permitting. I felt pampered and valued and smug getting off the boat, the people from the supercat looked envious of us having those sun beds. For relaxation, quiet and sun worshipping for couples/pairs go for Aphrodite. For a booze cruise, families, older people, groups of people go for supercat.

Disgraceful cruise today for our family. Took our money E180 for the trip and then more money for water sports (Total E200+ overall) only to tell us we would be heading back to port to drop people off half way through. Staff dreadfully rude from the outset and food could only be described as slop.

Honestly folks, stay well clear of these operators. They should be ashamed of their offering to people spending hard earned money on holiday.

Oh and finally, if it couldn’t get any worse, the absolute filth of the toilets onboard. Our family jumped off the boat when it returned to port the first time and left the nightmare behind.

Buyer beware on this one, Avoid, avoid, avoid….

Supetcat Gran Canaria.

Seats cramped
Constant sales pitch on board
4hr trip is 2x route but 90% got off with the 2hr people.
Most people threw up and the boat stunk of sick
Boat seemed unstable in sea compared to other normal boat tours
Food and drink was a solid 2/10

Would not recommend especially if you have a family

After booking online and checking numerous times by email and phone what time we would be collected we were very disappointed that transport did I not arrive and after phoning the company were told the boat had sailed without us.This was very annoying as we booked it specially for that day to celebrate a birthday in our party.Eventually we were given an upgrade the following day on a catamaran trip but having been on Aphrodite before it did make up for the disappointment of the previous day .

Nearly drowned, staff didnt even attempt to help, just yelled swim while i was hanging on to another customer trying not to go under.
Literally nearly died and they didn't even ask if i was ok.
Waste of money not worth the 50 euro.
Pre warning to anyone that isnt a strong swimmer the current is very strong and they wont help you.

Super Catamaran yacht experience. The experience we had was average, there was a long queue to get in to the boat itself. Dolphins were amazing to see so close to the boat. Food was average and it was nice to have free drinks. There was some free activities which were very good and very adventurous for families. We were ordering drinks and a Black UK woman skipped the entire queue , she was very aggressive when confronted, and very racist towards us which wasn’t nice at all, felt she had priority when she skipped the queue and her husband was very rude as well. Loved the trip but was very discouraging with aggressive people.

This was a huge disappointment. We paid just over €200 for 3 of us. The transfer arrived on time and took us to the boat. The captain was angry with the rep for turning up early (in his opinion). We then had to wait in direct sun without any shade whilst he hosed down the decks and generally had a go at the rep. We got on and they take a photo of you that they try and sell to you later. Eventually we were given a plastic cup of cava. There was not a nice welcoming atmosphere on the boat, the captain (Alejandro) seemed angry throughout, the food was ok but not amazing. The white wine was un- drinkable. I had to throw it over the side. Our Thomas Cook rep told us we'd have 2 swim stops. We only had one, and we were sold this as a sunset cruise. We arrived back in the port at 8.45pm the sun went down at 9pm. Totally mis-sold this. Definitely would not recommend.

Lovely host in Elena, very welcoming, chatty and polite. The crew are the same! lovely 5 hour trip, included free drinks ( water, soft, beer, cava and sangria) A lovely lunch and if too much sun, a place to have 40 winks in a cabin. There was a short stop to have a dip in the sea. Nice surprise at the end was a complimentary bottle of wine per 2 people. No need to take any cash, however, a professional photographer takes snaps as you board and these are available at 10 euro. Make sure you have plenty of sun tan lotion and a hat! Tip, get one of the bench seats at the rear, you get a backrest and a table in front....it may look glamorous on top of the cabins, but room is restricted. All in all a great way to spend a day out. Prices circa 67 euro per person if going through a rep...cheaper if you book direct
