Well, everybody heard that famous song, but I had no idea the singer originates from Polignano.
This is just an ordinary monument to this singer, set above the famous Lama Monachile beach. It's a pass by attraction and a quick photo op.
However, have in mind he's pretty popular and there's a line if you want to have a photo with no one around.
Moreover, the entire central pedestrian street nearby is inscribed with that song verses.

Must to do when you are in Polignano a Mare - visit statue of Domenico Modugno. He is the author of world famous song “Nel Blu dipinto di Blu”, more known as “Volare”. And he was born here, in Polignano a mare. And of course take a picture with him ;)

My wife and I really like local culture and local specialties. This statue is not only about Mr Domenico be born in Polignano a Mare that is about one of the biggest music hits in the world. The View is amazing where the statue takes place. The whole sorroundings are beautiful as well. Great experience.

One of the reasons we visited Polignano a Mare was to pay tribute to Domenico Modugno (who was born there) and to his much-beloved music.
His home town erected a statue to him, it is located on a square open to the sea, near the Lama Monachile beach. The atmosphere in front of his statue was carnival-like. People were singing Volare, his most famous song!
The view from there was fantastic - the blue sky and the blue Adriatic sea! Nel Blu dipinto di Blu...

This monument is dedicated to one of the best italian singer, Domenico Modugno. He is the author of "nel blu dipinto di blu" best kmown as volare. The statue is on ghe seaside in the end of old town. It's nice location for photos.

From here you can see the fantastic cliff and the houses built on it and the blu and crystalline sea

We finally managed to get our photograph taken with the statue, there was so many people around it. But it was worth the wait.
While we were waiting the little sighting train was passing with Volare coming out of it.
A perfect moment!!!
The area around is spectacular, the view from the top is amazing

Non sono in grado di dire con precisione in quali zone vicine a Polignano ci possano essere aree attrezzate per camper.
Però ad esempio visitando la zona di San Vito, a pochissimi chilometri da Polignano, ho notato molti camper parcheggiati.
Inoltre la zona di San Vito offre più possibilità di accedere al mare , rispetto a Polignano.
