I had read there was parking, but we could NOT find it; we drove past the castle twice and eventually parked in town and walked up. Lo and behold, you had to drive through a castle arch and there is a small lot. It had quite a few cars in it at the end of the day in March, so... More

The powerful castle is located on the top of the hill that dominates Gorizia. You can see it from all over the town but especially from the main square. It was built during the twelfth century. The rooms retain the ancient medieval furnishings. From the walls the city's view is really gorgeous!

Couldn't have asked for a nicer castle to visit. Loved that they have kept it in the traditional set up so you get a feel for life in the 1500s. Loved it here.

It was raining when we visited the castle but we enjoyed it even more for this reason: it has been like jumping in the medieval era! Wonderful sightseeing from the top

Nice views of both italian and slovenian sides, beautiful Castle from outside and if you pay only 3 euros you will be able to see the inside, which is even better! Original furnitures, kitchen and saloons of a very ancient castle, plus interesting information about the history of the place. It's totally a MUST even if you are not in... More

If you are in Gorizia, you should not miss a visit to the Castle, a well-maintained historical fortress dating back to the 11th century. All the spaces along the visit are well organised and explained. The views from the top of the Castle are breathtaking. The staff is helpful and available. Our visit, in particular, was graced by the added... More

The castle is well maintained and has great views. The staff is very helpful and better than those at the Museo della Grande Guerra.

This would be a great place to visit if it were administered by people who knew something about tourism and communication. They have a dramatically sited, formidable castle. But they don't know how to explain it or present it. About five percent of the signage is in English, and we should call it "English" because while most of the words... More

Amazing view near the mountain passages of ancient Roman roads. Castle is in perfect location, with museum, kidden garten, telescope and unique places for fotos. Try to get little of Lion energy before the main gate
