We spent a week in the area of Agia Pelagia, and we normally used to hang out on Psaromoura beach. I am a single mom with two kids and I have no words to thank Crete Boat for the fun hours at the sea. My kids tried all the activities (boats, kayak, sub surf and paddle boat, and they keep repeating it was the best day of their life. Jumping from the boat in the pristine nearby secret beaches was incredible! Staff was super helpful and knew exactly how to deal with kids. Xaris and Vassilis had all the patience, while our skipper, Dimitris, was super dedicated and knowledgeable. He showed us some hidden spots we would otherwise have never discovered and he was also very attentive to all security measures, taking really good care of us. We loved the experience.

Visiting Crete island is always a postcard adventure, but there's nothing like experiencing its magic from the sea looking landward. A recent visit to semi-secluded Psaromoura Beach introduced us to the superhero of Crete Boats, an energetic many named Harry. An info-tour and some genuine Cretan Filoxenia led to a boat trip around Agia Pelagia Bay and to a waiting beachside dinner for the family.

Whether you want a guided tour of the secret places around Agia Pelagia, or to be your own skipper in a personal Odyssey, Crete Boats is one of the best on the island. Ask Harry about the secrets of the Evresi Cave and other mysteries of epic proportions.

Bottom line, if you love the sea and exploring, Crete Boats is a sure bet. 5 stars.

We had the pleassure of joining our sailor Dimitri for a 2-hour boat trip, along the seaside of Agia Pelegia and all the way up to near Heraklion. During the trip we were told about the many beautiful stops we stopped by along the route, which Dimitri had planned. We were also offered to stop and take a swim in the ocean.

Finally, we were dropped off at our hotel, which we weren't even aware was a posibility - but Dimitri was so kind as to offer this, which saved us a bus trip back to the hotel.

It should be mentioned we didn't deal directly with Crete Boats, as we ordrered the tour through our hotel. Nonetheless, it was a great trip - and Crete Boats is more then recommended!

The ferry ride was at 9pm from Piraeus Athens, run by ANEK services. The ferry set out in time. The sea was compassionate , hence the ride was smooth and nothing untoward felt inside cabin. No motion sickness. The boat arrived in time at Herakleion at 6.30am. The disembarkation was uncomplicated and one could just walk out of the port. There is a complimentary coffee and juice from the company at the exit gate, something that most passengers are unaware and hence remains unutilized. There is also an ticket upgradation to cabin, available after the boat sails, whenever available.

We hire boats as a family frequently. At least a couple of times per year for the last twenty years of holidays. This doesn't make me an expert in the sea or engines or boats. But I'm not an idiot, and I don't put myself or my family in danger, ever.
So, prior to booking the chap in charge was a gent. Couldn't do enough for us: checking the weather for the best day, offering us free vouchers to his previous employers for cake, general friendly charmer. We were taken in and booked a four hour slot for €90 or thereabouts.
We turn up on the alloted day and hour with our snorkel, masks etc and a bit of time to spare - always prepared! Suddenly there are extra charges for fuel, extra paperwork requirements (I have to take a 40 minute round-trip drive back to our villa to collect paperwork that I don't have with me: and hadn't been mentioned before).
Then we walk to the port to the waiting vessels, sun shining, boats gulping at the mirror like sea in anticipation of a rollicking few hours of fun with the family and my wife and children are asked to wait at the port side while myself and the two other renters start a 'safety briefing'.
I'm an educator, responsible for 21 teachers and a similar number of teaching assistants. The way we were treated as customers by this chap was literally like being spoken to by aterrible supply teacher that you would remover from your school for incompetence: the minute a hand is laid on the boat controls while reversing and manoeuvring around the port with the other customers snapping and snarling that you arent right, that you may not be able to take a boat out, that you should be able to name all parts of the boat (non of which had been explained prior to getting into the boat by the way!) A tragic waste of a sun for my family, and an exhausting approach to education about what should have been a quick overview of the controls and maps etc (it would have been funny if I hadn't paid so much for the 'pleasure').
An hour and a half of our time passed by, wife and kids allowed on board: the looks on our 15 and 16 year olds were a picture (I couldn't see a mirror, I imagine my own was 'severe'!)
Anyway, once in the boat. It was clean, easy to handle, controls clear, safe - flares, first aid, bouyancy aids, spare anchor, etc and a lot of fun. Swimming was lovely on the hidden bays and we found time to see a shipwreck near the coast towards the military base.
It's just a shame that I felt so scammed regarding time and money to access the boat. I don't mind being shown/ told what to do, and that instuction being thorough. I just don't like surprises that cost me money and time without prior notice. So consider this your prior notice.
There aren't many places this end of the island to hire boats, it's a beautiful place to do so from. Just be prepared! And relax. And enjoy yourself once you're (finally) afloat!
