Jambiani is a beautiful beach that boasts of white sand, serene environment, and clear blue waters. I enjoyed the low tides and my guide Erick, guided me to walk nearly a kilometer in the ocean, enjoying the beautiful sand and sea environment. However, I would warn against the many beach boys that flood the place selling souvenirs and seeking to guide tourists. Please book your guide in advance to avoid this debacle. I recommend Erick (+255756983368) for his exceptional services.

This review is for the southern part of the beach, the whole being around 5km long.
A stunning stretch of white sand beach. At low tide the water recedes 500m or more revealing sand, dead coral, seaweed with lovely long pools of water left behind. Quite a number of seaweed growing plots are revealed and the locals work these at low tide. With small boats, women working the seaweed, tourists strolling, one or two kite surfers it is so picturesque. At high tide the white sand is not as wide as central Paje or in the north say Matemwe, maybe just 5 or 10 metres wide and at various points becomes impassable to walk where water reaches rocky outcrops. At high tide swimming is possible and enjoyable.,
Jambiani is unbelievably beautiful, really stunning.

It’s an area with a great beach (depending on time of year as sometimes the tide is too low and lots of seaweed).
Very lively and you can walk along the beach and go from hotel to bar to restaurant to spa and massages by the beach.
Great place to stay or spend the day in Zanzibar

Don’t listen to (some) people in Paje who may wish to keep you captive in their businesses and the overcrowded ambiance. Go to Jambiani and meet a much more real authentic African vibration, Stress-free and chilling beach.
Highly recommended for Kitesurfers who do not want to feel a “Friday evening chaotic trafic” spot like Paje’s one!

Jambiani Beach is located on the east part of Zanzibar around 55 km away from the airport. It is a small white sand beach comparing to the rest on the island. It has some dozens of hotels and restaurant right in front of the beach. In this place like in all east area you can experience the phenomeno of the tide almost every 6 hours. It is not so recommended for swimming especially when is low tide since you need to walk hundreds of meters to find water but the views are magic. Beach itself is good but not always clean since it has many garbages around and the phenomeno of the tide leaves also large amounts of sea plants on the coast. The most annoying thing of all is for me the large amounts of people some times of the day and the beach boys that are a little bit pushy to the tourists although they are not scary or dangerous. I also didnt like the kite activity that is everywhere. I would prefer a more quiet beach or at least this activity can be in a part of the beach.

If you love a white beaches, simply life and calm evenings. There are hotels, bungalows, guesthouses for every budget. To Stone city is approximately 60 minutes. Almost everyone is ready to organise for you excursions to Prison Island, Spacy plantation, Freddie Mercury miseum, Blue safari

Flight to the mainland are reasonably quick took us an hour and a half from Arusha with a stop over in Pemba Island. If you want the full on animal adventure would think you would need to spend a minimum of a couple of days on the mainland. Jozani Forest for the Colobus Monkeys and Sea Turtle Sanctuary is certainly worth 2 or 3 hours on Zanzibar.
Good luck
Guys i just need advice, i am not sure if tours are much expensive from jambiani then if you are staying at Matemwe or Nungwi?

Hi, is almost no difference to Jambiani if you are in Matemwe or Nungwi. Dala-dala is nor a solution, take a taxi or if need more days rent a car with driver for 40usd/day plus fuel.
Obrigada.

If we are a couple and stay at an all inclusive resort for 7 days, how much spending money is enough for the two of us?

Jambiani is a wonderful place to stay. There are no shops only people walking along the beach selling their goods hand crafts etc. I would recommend you do a tour of the local village very interesting. A massage is always a relaxing thing to do approximately $20 USD. Very affordable to eat out. Unsure what water activity’s cost check with your resort.

Is there snorkeling off Jambiana Beach or do we have to take a boat ride to be able to snorkel? Are there any beaches with good snorkeling on either Zanzibar or Mafia ?

The ocean blue safari was ok. Anyone on the beach can set you up with that trip. It isn’t amazing though. Coral isn’t very colorful, but the fish are. It depends what your standards are. Interested to find out if you find a good spot!

Stayed at Stone House. Nice rooms, sea view with a shared terrace. Right on the beach. Pleasant staff and very helpful.
